Keep having problems with the heat shield above the converter coming off the bolt that held it in place. The bolt finally broke.

Is this shield necessary or should I just take it off?

Sometimes you can hold it on with hose clamp.

Hose clamp is out, these bolt to the floor above the converter and muffler and are not on the converter itself.

I have the same truck with the same issue. I bought JB weld and was going to glop some on. I read that this stuff is only good to 500F. Cats can go above 1000F easily... Sooooooooo. Maybe blast some galv. Deck screws in new locations??? Got to be a way to re anchor these shields!!!

still, if you can mcguyver one on top of the cat, with a little air space above the actual cat,
it will work far better than no shield at all
