Howdy all - I have a bone stock '08 TRD 4x4 double cab that I tow a 20' camping trailer with. Last trip out I noticed the leaf springs look like they're about to snap (I'm aware of the recall) so I ordered some heavy duty leafs from General Spring. While I'm at it I figured I'd try and level her out since the new leafs will add 1" - 1 1/2", I'm told. Ordered Billy 5100's all the way around, and some new tophats for the front coils (planning on re-using the stock springs). Anyone have this setup? What should I set the front shocks at? 1 3/4" or 2 1/2"? Will it align? Will I need UCAs? Halp!

subbed. I'm interested in these springs as well since I tow a travel trailer. When hooked, the rear end sags pretty bad. These are the springs I'm considering, http://www.generalspringkc.com/product_p/90-297hd.htm Are these what you're looking at too OP? I didn't realize they would raise the rear up even more. I've already got a decent rake that I like with my stock setup. I'd hate to gain even more and look like a reverse bro lean.

I know the thread is a few months old, but I'm hoping someone can chime in.

I went with wheelers hd 5 lead pack and 5100 shocks all around. I also bought Ome 884 springs. The rear gained 2" and I got 2" from the 884 springs. The ride is excellent. It's firm but the truck is much more solid. My truck aligned fine on the stock uca's. I plan on getting a 18-21 travel trailer. I e had my bed loaded down with 1100 lbs and it dropped about 1.25".

So not for an 08 , but I did a review of my 04 General HD springs with load measure heights.

Should come up on the search for general HD

On the 04 they are perfect !!!

This sounds like a great setup! Any chance you have a photo from the side? Does it look like the factory rake, but taller?

General HDs, 5100s all around, and OME 884s up front. About 2" all around. Definitely 2" up front, maybe slightly less in the rear. Handles a load much better than the factory 3-leaf packs. I would not change the ride one bit. Stiff, but not harsh. Handles better than stock and I think the height looks perfect.

This thread shows some photos with just the new leafs--before I lifted the front:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/general-90-297hd-4-leaf-packs.357147/

I was originally going to go with the Wheeler's 5-packs. The Generals showed up new on Craigslist from a shop that bought them for a customer who didn't like the idea of a slight lift, so price won out there.

I have heard that the Wheeler's HDs are known for squeaking badly. My Generals just started to as well. I think it's just because I have a lot of dirt between the leafs. I sprayed them with a car wash hose and it quieted them a lot. At some point I'll pry them apart and clean them really well. Might pull them off and put complete rubber strips between each leaf. Started to with them on, but it was a pain due to the clips.
