Heres what i take with me:
    • A plethora of recovery straps (two tree savers, a 30ft, 2 20ft, and some ratchet straps)
    • Hi lift
    • snatch block
    • factory jack (one of the most useful tools on the truck)
    • a spare CV, 2 if I'm going somewhere that is very hard or will be gone a long time
    • my 2wd conversion kit, its an outer cv stub shaft so i can immobilize the front diff
    • spare drive shafts
    • set of tools, including crowbars to get the cv out
    • spare spider gears for the rear axle in case my locker explodes
    • spare belts
    • spare crawl box mainshaft and input shaft (impossible to find at auto parts shops and vital to get me home if one of those breaks)
    • Spare tcase front output shaft
    • my old lower ball joints as spares
    • spare tire
    • torch
    • I have a set of spare rear axle shafts, ill only carry those if going somewhere very far away/difficult
    • Usually someone in our group has a welder, someday im going to buy a ready welder
    • Spare u joint and yoke for the driveshafts
    • Spare hoses
    • A bunch of random spare bolts
    • A few qts of various fluids, i have scaled back a bit since i started wheeling with people who also wheel toyotas, we all tend to have a few qts of something
    • tarp, that item right there is SOOOO helpful!!
    • Oil collection tub
    • tub of grease
    • Spare drive shaft flange bolts

All that fits in my tool box and in the compartments in my xtra cab. All the parts on that list will allow me to get my taco home unless my engine blows, trans completely fails (like breaks the case open or something like that), if an upper BJ or steering rack fails. I have had to use quite a few of those at one point or another. When packing try to look at the truck and decide "what do I NEED to get this truck home" and go from there. People tend to overpack useless items and underpack on the important stuff. Always pack a bunch of spare bolts. My buddy broke his upper control arm bolt last time we were wheeling and we found a bolt in my spare parts bag that worked, it was old bolts that i randomly tossed in there.

It can be used as a makeshift press, a clamp, a spreader, you can bend metal with it, its a sweet little tool. Last trip out my buddy broke his upper control arm bolt on his zj and his axle flipped forward. He also bent his control arm bracket in when that happened and was using my factory bottle jack to bend it back into place and to shift his axle over so he can bolt the upper control arm back up. Its one of those tools that you truly don't realize how useful it is until you actually need it.

CVs i bought from various forums, same with the driveshafts. The rear shafts i got free from a wheeling buddy that upgraded to chromo shafts. The tcase outputs i got from cases that i tore down for crawlers, extra ball joints were old ones i pulled off that were still usable, Crawler couplers were old ones that i pulled out when i rebuilt my crawl box but still useable.

It comes from not throwing anything out, and buying old parts from people cleaning out their garage on forums. You dont need new stuff for spares, just stuff to get you home!! I need to pick up a spare power steering pump, those are a bit harder to find.

You put it on the high lift and it cradles a sliders tube to make jacking up from the slider more stable. Pretty self explanatory.

Ok I gotta know. I tried searching and didn't see anything. What is the pickle fork for in a winch kit?

Yes. I think. It's listed in the recommended items for a winch kit and I can't imagine what it would be used for while winching.

I found it mentioned in Ford Explorer forums in the off road section and in a few jeep forums. None of them gave an indication as for why it's there either.
