I have a 2000 tacoma with the 60/40 seats.I would like to change drivers seat to a bucket seat,my question is has anyone ever tried converting the 60 seat to a bucket seat? I was thinking it might be possible to take the seat apart and convert then recover seat.

I've seen seats modified in other vehicles to accomplish this. If you can work with metal, anything is possible. I've seen it where people would cut out the "20%" portion, pull the seat material down the side and clip it to the remaining seat so that they didn't have to buy a new cover. Or the cover could be modified by an upholstery shop.

the passenger side of the 60/40 bench is a complete independent bucket seat already

all you need to do is buy the seat tracks for the drivers side bucket seat or the whole bucket seat from a Tacoma at the salvage yard or use the 3rd gen 4runner SR5 or sport seats from 96-00 (the regular base model seats mount differently) which will bolt right in on 3 corners and then you just need to cut off the rivet holding the front outside foot and swap it with the one from your old 60 seat.

the 60 seat frame is 1000% different and cannot be modified in any fashion to work as a bucket seat.

you could also buy the seat tracks for the drivers bucket seat and take the seat back and bottom from the passenger bucket or any 4runner bucket seats to put on it.

I did extensive research on these options and those are the best options short of modifying any random seat to fit in it
