    8.5 Fisher XV2, some switches, some lights.
    This one's similar, but there's an additional wire that runs to the dimmer control for the backlight.
    Like I said, I've installed tachs before, but they've always been Autopro in the past; this is my first time installing a Sunpro. I'm 99% sure that I wired it correctly, but...
    I've got another one on order, so I guess we'll know for sure on Wednesday. This one I'm going to test wire directly to the battery and run a jumper to the coil before I bother routing the wires, that's for damn sure.

    I thought one of the guys at the meet and greet said he asked the pediatrician and they didnt recommend offroading until the kid was like 3. He had one of the more hardcore rigs though.

    Interesting. I guess I could ask mine. But unless you're in a buggy I don't see it as much different than driving down the interstate through an area where the pavement had been milled prior to repaving.

    I would tend to agree with that. All off roading is not equal. The stuff we did as a group in Rhode Island was fine, a buggy is a completely different animal.

    Truck would (should) be IFS...the film was set in October of 1985, so the truck would be model year 1986.

    Or they screwed up and used an 85...which is certainly possible!

    It's an 85, you can actually see the front pinion in the drag race scene.

    This is a picture of the actual truck from the first movie back at SEMA in 1985.

    The actual truck for the first movie was a true SR5 show truck Toyota had built. Supposedly it was given away in a contest or something like that and was wrecked. The truck purchased for the second and third films is most likely not a real SR5 (or at least doesn't have the deluxe SR5 interior as the first truck did) and was made up to be a copy. That explains the differences between the trucks in the films, such as the seats, lack of TOYOTA on the windshield and tailgate, the different rollbar, etc. That truck was actually stolen at some point and ended up in Mexico, with a lift and awful orange paint, as well as some body damage. The wheels were long gone, but the Smittybilt parts were all there.

    As far as the actual film, I suppose it's debatable if it would be an 85 or an 86. In real life, the film was shot before the 86's came out. In the movie there is a radio ad stating that Statler Toyota was having a clearance on all 1985 Toyota's, so it's not unreasonable that Marty got one of the last 85's before the changeover. If the dealer was building a custom truck, it'd be unlikely they'd already have their hands on an 86, although I got my '13 in late October of '12.

    I'm really over thinking this.
