Hey guys Iv searched everywhere to find different trails/camping trips in Eastern Washington/Northern Idaho. The only good ones that I have found don't have any lakes or anything like that. Im trying to find a trail just like the Surprise Lake Trail in Western Washington where you can camp by a lake. Im in the Spokane area so I don't necessarily want to travel more like 2.5 hours to get to the trail

Hope you guys can help me out here

The back country discovery routes take you through some pretty cool places. A lot of the routes are intended for motorcycles, but in my experience there isn't many sections a tacoma won't fit down as it's mostly overgrown two track/dirt roads. In my neck of the woods there are tons of great trails, but I'm outside of your 2.5hr radius unless you drive really fast. http://www.oohva.org/

I mostly hang out on route 5 section 3 and 4. Going to do parts of section 3 this weekend.

I go camping quite often. Just on the forest service roads around town, usually it'll take me about 45 mins to get to where I wanna camp for the night, usually on top of whichever mountain I choose. Here's a photo I took the other day from the top of chumstick mountain, outside cashmere

I know you can drive to lake Wenatchee and there's some camping spots there. It's a beautiful lake but it's not as much of an adventure, if that's what you're looking for, since it's about 85% paved. You can also go up the icicle, which is a road that takes you into the mountains outside Leavenworth. It runs along side the river, eventually turning to gravel and there are some pretty cool swimming holes.

The camp grounds on icicle creek are my favorite easy access camp sites (aka not four wheeling). Camping right next to the river with steep mountains on either side that block cell service and light pollution makes it feel more remote than it actually is, and there are a bunch of good hiking trails in the area.
