How about a good 'ole HK USP with a Jet Funnel kit. Jet Funnel mags, although pricey, are 18 rounds.

I've shot the USP in 40, I can tell you now I won't like the 9 or 45 either, the grips just don't feel right at all to me.

Id like to be able to do some work myself which it sounds like it knocks the 75 out, I haven't messed with a 226 as far as modification, but I'd bet there are a few things you can do to them(actually got to handle a top of the line Sig race gun recently.......sweet, I think it was an x series 226?)

The berretta I've seen a lot of upgrades, a safety to de cocker only
Conversion would be first on my list. As for the
Hi power I would do a mag disconnect then see what Garthwaite could do for me, including a beaver tail on it (yes, it's possible)

I know you said you weren't looking for polymer but not opposed either, so what about something like the FNX-9? With the flat backstrap it is similar in feel to a 1911.

Sounds like you won't be happy unless you're using some form of 1911 platform. Although I wouldn't carry or rely on one, how about Para Ordnance?

I've shot them and like them, just wasn't thinking about them. I'll have to look into aftermarket for them now

Actually it's more of a john browning thing than a 1911 thing....I really like hi powers a lot too,

I really like the CZs 75 as well. However for those who have giant fat fingers, you might want to consider something else.

They're a little challenging to find but look for a Rock Island Armory 1911A2 pistol. It's basically Armscor's version of STI's 2011... and it's less than half the price (depending on which STI 2011 you were looking at). I purchased one last year through Tombstone Tactical and it's now honestly one of my favorite pistols.

At around $650, I figure I can afford to do a bit of gunsmithing to it when I'm ready to make it into an competition pistol.

For a Three Gun pistol in 9mm -

HK P30LS will do everything you want, and run like a sewing machine right out of the box.

There are shit tons of custom CZs all over USPSA and 3gun.

You can spend as much on a CZ as you can on a 2011.

I'm all in favor of doing things because you can. Every now and then though, you run into that thing that shouldn't have been done, even though you could. That monstrosity is one of those things.

    For the 3Gun question earlier...

I'll go out on a limb and say at least half the handguns at a major match are Glock 34s. Another 25% are M&P PROs. The rest are 2011s and a FEW CZs. Might be an XDm thrown in there too.

There is a Damn good reason striker fired guns (Glocks in particular) rule the game

Nope, Martimus did with his poor man's 2011 post.

If you lay a 2011 and Glock 34/35 17L/24 in front of me, I'll take the Glock every time. Seen too many $3000+ 2011s choke. And too many competitors DQed for the safety coming off when they abandoned them on a stage. No thumb safety means you can abandon it loaded without fear of a DQ

It's truly just a matter of personal preference. Personally, and this is only my personal opinion, I'd reach for any number of other weapons for use in competition before I'd even consider a Glock. As I said, it's personal preference. A properly configured, tuned, and maintained weapon will normally perform better than the shooter behind it. Can the weapon fail in competition? Absolutely... every weapon has the potential to fail during use.

You've got a point with the safety, I run 1911 in general so the safety doesn't bother me too much. And Ya, I've seen 2011s choke, same with glocks and a all the others. They all eventually choke.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know what any of the 3 gun rules say about a beretta 92 safety being converted to deco let only?

Honestly I have no idea. I've never seen one at a 3gun match. Seen a few in USPSA, but they don't abandon pistols there.
