Another new member with lift questions

    Hey everyone - been reading/trolling for several weeks now and finally ready to humbly ask for some advice. I have read lots of threads on this topic so I know much of this is covered but I'm sure the regular posters here know that everyone wants specific advice on 'their' setup, so TIA. I want to provide as much background as possible as opposed to saying 'what lift do I need' so please bear with the long intro.

    I recently purchased a used 04' 4x4 extended cab and unfortunately discovered that I had a crack in one of my rear leafs. The crack is on the wrap portion of the right leaf. Yes, very easy to see, shame on me for not noticing it when I bought it. I don't know how dangerous a crack in that location is or what could happen from just normal driving but obviously I want to get it taken care of.

    I found a set of used that were in really good shape and could not pass up the price. They still have paint on them and the rubber bushings are in great shape so I bought them for less than half of what I would have paid for a new set of OEM leafs. I contacted AllPro and they told me that after they settle (I assume they have if they are used) that I would end up with about 2.5" of lift in the rear. I was not planning on lifting but now that I have them i want to move forward.

    My current plan was to get a set of 2" coil over 'leveling' spacers that I could use with a new set of stock length struts. My thought is that I will get a reasonable amount of lift in the rear and front and then go ahead and run with some 265/75/16 tires on my stock wheels.

    Finally - I don't plan to do any rock crawling, mud bogging, or any extreme off-road activities.

    Three questions - does my plan sound reasonable, should I go install a diff drop, do I need to extend my brake line? I know, the debate is raging on the diff but I'm just wondering with my usage/driving profile and amount of lift if I really 'need' the diff drop.

    I'm not really a suspension guru but in my opinion your plan does sound reasonable, I do think you should purchase some diff drop spacers, and you should also purchase a spacer for the rear brake line. If i was you i would look for a spacer lift in the front that lifts the front end 3 inches. If you do a 3 inch lift in the front and have leaf packs that lift the rear 2.5 inches it should help level the truck out. A 2 inch lift in the front with a 2.5 in the back would make the truck sit "far" from level. I would say get some new coils and struts but since you don't want to do anything to crazy with your truck in the dirt the spacer should be fine. Hope this helps!!!

    don't get a spacer lift. they are crap, your truck with ride like crap and they just aren't worth it. if you want to left the front then get some coils and shocks or coilovers. if you don't wanna lift, then look into removing a leaf or 2 from your new pack to give you the stock ride height

    You'll need new rear shocks to run the allpro leaf packs.

    Thanks for the replies - so I think I'm leaning toward coil overs to raise the front and new shocks in the rear for the allpro leafs...do I still need to consider brake line and diff drop?

    Diff drop is optional and pretty much up to you. I don't run one. Some people dont run them because it takes away from ground clearance. for 1st gens i believe it does help with the CV angles from some people I have spoke to..

    Since the Allpro leaf pack gets you 2.5-3in of lift in the rear its probably best to extend the brake line and get a BVP bracket.
