She has been the best purchase I have ever made :woot:
So I bought my Tacoma exactly 2 years ago with 49k, and I am around the 75k now. She is my daily driver and most weekends we drive several hours to pick up motorcycles. 95% of my driving is on the highway 3% in the city and 2% on dirt when I am taking my dirt bikes out, or driving out to the middle of nowhere.

This past weekend I got a flat tire, and not just ANY kind of flat, I got a freaking pair of SCISSORS stuck in my tire :censored:. The tires I had were older, but they had loads of tread left. I had been planning on replacing them anyways since they had started to get hairline cracks in the tread.

So while I am at it I thought I should probably throw some black wheels on her as well. I don't need anything flashy or blingy, and the more affordable the better. I DONT want to go with bigger either, it's hard enough loading bikes on a slightly raised truck haha.

So does anyone have any recommendations for wheels and tires? The Pirelli's worked fine for what I was doing, but since they came on the truck when i bought her, I don't have anything to compare them to.

Here are some photos of my truck and our adventures.

As far as tires and wheels:
If you want cheap and black, you can always paint yours. For tires, Yokohama Geolander ATS are a great all around tire.

For that much highway I'd look at some low rolling resistance tires, like the Michelin LTX MS2. Paint the wheels on the cheap, or powdercoat, that's what I would do.

Thats awesome, I have a '73 XS650 in my collection. I just realized that I only posted photos of MX bikes, and the majority of the bikes I have are vintage street bikes.

I would like a little off-road capability. Yes i do mostly freeway driving, but i don't want to get stuck out in the dirt when I do take my bikes out into the desert.

Awesome! Post up some pics or start a thread with the bikes, i'd love to see!

As far as a good mostly highway, some offroad tire: wrangler adventure in P rated. very light and not jarring for good MPGs and on road comfort, but have an all terrain tread pattern. I have them now. highly recommend.

Doesn't look like those wranglers come in my size.

Here is a photo of one of my garages. I could post pics all day but i wanna stay somewhat on topic

IMO you already have the nicest looking alloy wheels for a first gen. Plus they're 15" so tires are cheaper.

I'd just paint the current wheels black. As for tires, a nice All Terrain might even be overkill for you but if you want to go that route I'm loving my Goodyear Adventure All Terrains. Super quiet, great on road, excellent on wet, very good on snow and completely fine off road (rocks and/or dirt).

FWIW, I love my Cooper ATPs. They also offer an AT3 (ATP is a specific tire made for Discount/America's Tire shops exclusively). I recommend them, price is fair as well.

My ATPs replaced 7 month old Hankook Dynapro ATM RF10s which were problematic from day one, and I had a total of 6 Dynapro's on my truck before throwing in the towel. Many on TW have had them, or currently have them, and love them - but they didn't work for me, and 3 tire shops locally said they're a cheap tire that they do not recommend for any truck. YMMV.

I personally love the new Yokohama h/t if I remember correctly they are a 70,000 mile tire and are very afortable. They have a really low rolling resistance, and are very quite. If you are doing mostly highway driving I wouldn't go with the ATS. Those are a more aggressive thread directed towards someone that is doing more off-road and gravel road driving.
