Question for topper owners or those with rear suspension improvement.

I have a 2015 DCSB. Do our trucks have the brake distribution adjuster on the rear suspension like my old first gen did? If so, if I add a helper leaf to my rear suspension to level out the weight of my topper and requisite survival tools in back, do I need my brake distribution valve readjusted so that my rear brakes are not being lazy due to the lack of sensing added weight in the rear?

 

I don't think you need to worry. I upgraded the springs in my 08 dclb to 5 leaf hd springs which raised the rear 2". My rear brakes were unaffected as far as I could tell. I disassembled my rear brakes not long ago to service my park brake and readjusted when I put it all back together. My brakes work great.

 

Not 100% sure, but I think that went away with the advent of 4w ABS. My 02 Tundra has front ABS and the valve on the back....no such valve that I could see on my 15 Taco.

So to answer my own question...No 2nd gen doesn't have the brake proportioning valve like the first gen...

But, curiously as I was installing my Hellwig 981, there is a big fat warning from hellwig about readjusting said proportioning valves after installation if your truck is so equipped. I imagine the way to adjust the proportioning valve is to mark the exact location of the valve lever on level ground, then without changing the weight one iota, install your helpers then adjust the stroke rod to the lever so that the lever is in the same oreintation it was before.
