The axe you have, possibly the shovel too? Amazon has three different ones for the axe, and more folding spade shovels than you can shake a stick at.

I reccomend a normal shovel. Been the folding shovel route before....when you have to rely on it, it sucks.

That shovel of mine is a standard $12 bluehawk shovel from Blowes (Lowes)

I have the regular chopping axe. I would go with the splitting axe if i had it to do over again. You can chop with a splitting axe, but you can't split with a chopping axe.

Mind shipping them flat rate USPS? PM me your PayPal address if you don't mind? I will send you money for them as well as the shipping cost. $100 is fair.

Thanks, ill definitely get the shovel, the axe is a little out of budget so it might have to wait. rather wait and buy a good one then cheap out and regret it later

Both of my Fiskars cost me less than $40 each on Amazon. I have one mounted on my 4runner and one mounted in the bed of my tacoma.

Do you have the chopping or splitting one I'm gonna get one an I'm in the debate on which I was leaning more to the chopping but I dunno

You can try mine out some time. Just hit me up.

I would rather have the splitting head over the chopping head but it depends on what you plan to use it for and how heavy an axe you care to swing. Some people don't like the extra weight. I went with the chopping axe because it was cheaper and anyone can use it.

Though, like i said earlier, you can chop with a splitting head, but you cant (as easily) split with a chopping head.

I'd lean towards splitting personally. I'm also up in the air on fiskars because their handles aren't replaceable. Just my 2 cents.

The idea is to save weight. If you've ever swung a fiskars axe, you'd notice right away all the weight is in the head. Its super easy to place an accurate hit. Anyone can pick it up and learn to swing it in a few tries. :)

If i wanted an axe that would last for ever, i'd buy a metal eastwing.

I have broken a fiskars splitting axe before. On a piece of locust no doubt. It takes a lot of abuse. So these fiberglass/composite plastic handles (or what ever they actually are) aren't as easily broken as people assume they would be...though in time, everything breaks

Also, i believe fiskars has some sort of warranty....(i didn't pursue it....because i knew i abused their product)

Not to butt in, but the Fiskars splitting maul is proven, albeit not traditionally constructed. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one or recommend one.

That said, avoid anything branded by Gerber with an axe head. Night and day difference in quality and durability, in both handles and heads.

I had a new carport installed today. It was mainly purchased to protect my Casita camper but i ordered it big enough to protect some of my vehicles too.
