Hello everyone! My name is Nick and I am a new member here. Long short story, I got into a car accident 2 months ago, guy hit me in the rear on freeway at high speed, and unfortunately the old 94 Toyota Camry (it was my dad's car btw) didn't survive. I drove this Camry for 7 years in my college life, lots of memories in this car :"(. I was alright with a back pain. So 3 weeks ago, I went out to buy a Toyota Tacoma 2015 4-cylinder 2WD double cap base model. Got a very good deal with it and Yes! this is my first car. I bought the truck because I was always dreaming to own one and I need a light duty truck to carry my big archery target and its stand for my archery sessions. I am not planning to do any heavy off-road, maybe some camping with friends in the forest. But anyways, 2 weeks ago I got a chance to give my sweet girlfriend a ride around the town. When we parked next to another Tacoma, which taller than my truck with stock 15" wheel and 215/70/15 tires, my girlfriend questioned why that truck is taller than mine. Honestly, I DID feel my balls shrivel up and want to hide. I have been lurking on this section for a few days, learned a few things. I want to lift the truck and get some new wheels and tires. So here are my newbie questions and I hope to get some expert advises from you guys. Thank you all:

Lift kit: I am looking at Fatbob kit and don't really know which sizes to pick, should I go with standard or long version? http://4x4.fatbobsgarage.com/toyota-tacoma-2wd-5-lug-suspension-275-lift-kit--2005-2015-p7611.aspx.

Wheels and tires: Since the FatBob lift kit recommended 16x8 with 4.5 inch backspacing and 245/75 R16 tires. Do I need to remove the black box in the fronts for this to fit? I am happy with the tire size but just wondering what is the biggest size I can fit with 16" wheel after the black box mod.

Thanks all and here are some pics of my Taco. I wished you all have a good day with your Taco as well.

5-lugs aren't for everyone, sounds like you should trade it in for what you girlfriend wants.

I had a 2wd Silverado, I used lift spindles on it and it rode great! Looks like you need to flip your rear axle too. I did 3" spindles and a 2" rear block and it was a nice height.

Hi, thanks all for inputs. After more depth research, I decided to go with 235/75/15 tires. Tires fit perfectly on the stock 15x6 wheel. No black box removed. Stiffer ride for sure. Maybe a lift few years later. Here are pictures:
