youll remove possible rail dust, but by all means you dont HAVE to if you dont want to. I personally would just so you know the sealant has the best possible bondage as you can provide. But you definitely dont have to.

If you're gonna seal it then I would. It's best to take all precautions before doing so. I wouldn't recommend drying with a bath towel either haha

Can the sealant be done all by hand?

check the instructions of whatever you use. The stuff I use can be applied with a machine or by hand. either way I'd do two coats, it applies in pretty thin coat, especially if done by machine.

In most cases it's better to, but like stated check whatever sealant instructions you decide to go with.
You'd mainly use a DA or orbital with polishing and waxing.

It all comes down to how anal you want to be with the paint on your truck. Waxing your truck every 6 months is better than nothing. I'm anal about the appearance of my vehicles so a full detail (clay, light polish, sealant, wax) is my routine every 6 months & makes me happy. It's not the end of the world if you skip a step to save time/money. When a stranger compliments you on the shine of your truck it does make all the work seem worth it though, lol.

Also, there are many sealants out there, and just like wax, many are a waste of money and time to use.

I only do mine by machine because it saves time but by hand is normal.

I just bought a new 2015 Tacoma TRD Sport and would like to seal the paint. The dealer tried to sell me paint sealer, but all I've read is that its a rip off. I am thinking of trying Adam's Liquid Paint Sealant and Quick Sealant on the rims. I plan on doing it by hand. Any red flags from those who've done sealant before?

Regardless of what the other guy says, POLISH first. My truck was off the assembly line Mar 15 and I brought it home the 27th. It had orange peal and overspray on the hood and the dealer left swirl marks everywhere when they washed it. Don't know anything about that product, but apply twice, make sure you let the sealant cure before taking it outside(usually 12-24 hours). a good sealant goes a LONG way, so don't think you need to get a giant bottle or paying so much for a little bottle is a rip off. Also, because it cost a lot, doesn't mean it is better.
I can tell you, a couple coats of Chemical Guys Jet Seal and Pete's '59 wax will leave your truck shiny and slick as snot.
Wheel sealants won't keep your wheels clean, but just make cleaning off brake dust and road grime easier, but you'll still need to brush them. As far as those go, I don't see any difference in the armor all and the pro stuff and the price is comparable. It doesn't last long if you wash a lot, not sure it is even worth the time and money to apply, but I still do it.
amarkham40 could probably give some pointers, he's got some shine to his truck

Adam's has good products. I've never used their sealant before but I'm sure it does a great job. As for wheels I definitely recommend hitting the wheels with either a wax, sealant or coating. When I go to wash my wheels all I use is a wash mitt with soap & water. I don't need any wheel cleaner at all. I do use a cleaner on my tires though to remove the tire shine from my last application as soap & water doesn't do as well with it. I highly recommend two website for detailing needs: http://www.detailedimage.com/

They both carry excellent products. The message board at Autogeek is full of information on detailing & product reviews. The blog section at Detailed Image has great information also. I always try & buy my products during their 15% & 20% off sales. They have them fairly often. I'm sure with Fathers Day approaching they will have one.

    Thank you!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I'll probably give Adam's a try and check out those sites!

Nope, 845 is not a cleaner wax. But it sure seems to me like the solvent load in a wax like 845 would strip whatever sealer was laid down previously. I know a lot of guys like to "top" a sealer with wax, but I'm not a fan of that process myself. I done it all three ways. 845 only. Sealer only (Ultimate Liquid Wax). And sealer (ULW) topped with 845. I prefer either product by themself more than I like the combo. To my eye, they both looked better solo.

Personally, I like the option of laying down another coat of sealer in a month or two or three without having to worry about stripping any leftover top coat of wax. If wax is left on the surface, the sealer doesn't do a thing.

You'll hear varying opinions on all of this. I think it boils down to this: ANY product is better than no product. Michael Stoops over at Meguires says "find a product you like and use it often". Mostly, have fun. I like experimenting. Always fun trying to one-up myself.

I have read a lot of good things about it. Never used it myself. Might try after my current sealant runs out.
