Hey everyone... If you didn't know, the Tacoma specific tuner was finally released (on May 28th). A friend of mine is a SCT dealer and just sent me a message to let me know he could get them for $429. I'll make a new thread when I get a chance, give Brian Tyson a shout at sales@jst-performance.com if you're interested. I have one on the way, so I'll let y'all know what I think about it when I get it. Make sure you let him know where you saw this and that you head about it from me... this is a special price from what I understand.

BD is now owned by SCT (I think it has been for a while), and this is the first product released specifically for the Tacoma, so I'm going to give it a try.

They can redeem themselves by posting a full review with Dyno results. Other than that I doubt many people will buy them. The original left alot of gaps and fell short of expectation.

I wouldnt mind picking one up but the sales pitch has to be very convincing with data.

Thanks for the input... I really hope this one is better. I looked into tuners before and what y'all are saying is what I found. If I see a dyno chart or any proof I'll pass it along.

It's all good man... I've got nothing to gain or lose. I'm not making any money or benefiting at all. He told me the price was as good as you could get and it seemed like it might be promising since this is the first time they released something specifically for the Tacoma. Take it or leave it. Whoever gives it a try, please post your results. I'm think I'm going to give it a try.

I would be pleasantly surprised if someone finally made a plug in for our trucks that worked lol. With proven dyno gains that lasted, they could stand to gain ALOT of money

I would NEVER put a BD tuner on my S/C truck. Just saying, they had a terrible reputation out there. Not just in the Tacomaworld community. When you chip a Diesel, if you want to blow an engine, you buy BD. Dealers make jokes about it all the time.

I'm not here to argue... just giving some info and offering a good price from a friend that's a SCT dealer. He let me know about it because we've had the discusion about lack of tuning support for tacomas before and he thought it may be worth checking out. SCT now owns BullyDog and it isn't the same company that originally had issues with chips in diesels. I was a Banks dealer about 15 years ago, trust me, I know which companies were known for having issues back then and over the years.

Well, as stated a thousand times on a thousand other threads, dyno talks. Didn't BD have proof but something was up with the ECU and it kept reverting back to stock or something?

BD is still blowing Diesel motors to this day. I live in an area with tons of oil field workers that have had to much money to waste on their trucks. Everytime I hear about someone blowing an engine fairly quickly after installation it is a BD. If the dealer even finds a sniff of BD on your truck around here you may as well burn your warranty too.

I'm not here to tell you things haven't changed with bully dog on this new Tacoma tuner you are talking about. However every experience I've heard of with that company has ended badly. If they have new ownership but the same people working there I wouldn't risk my truck to gain a few HP.

If all it has is a sticker that says SCT that doesn't make it a new product. Its more than likely the same disappointing product that came out 2 years ago unless they went back to the drawing board with it, which I highly doubt. There are 33 pages of results from those burned by this junk over the past 2 years.
