2011 4 cyl auto. Started making a whirrring noise about 3 days ago. It was right after a mudding trip , so i figured it needed a good power wash. Some dried mud stuck on the belt or something. I power washed everything. Engine soap then just water. Noise still there.

Im just waiting at the dealership as its still under warranty. The guy took a listen and immediately thought it was a pulley. Theyre looking at it now. Still under warranty, as long as they dont come out w any surprises.

I figured since im waiting..id post. Seemed appropriate.

    Thats all

Hey i think I'm having the same sound and my story is just like yours what did it cost you to get it replaced and is it bad if you run it like this too long?

I think the tensioner is $120ish if you buy OEM. I replaced mine not too long ago. It's not too difficult, and you'll save a lot if you do it yourself. Hopefully thats all it is!

I can't say for sure whether it'll be ok or not. I drove around with it for a while and it was just fine. But if the tensioner completely fails, I'm sure you could do a lot of damage to the truck. Idk how close yours is to failing, so I'd say just use your best judgement.
