Am planning to do this mod on my 2015 this weekend, because the way it works now makes me crazy - will let you know...

Please do report back here. I'd give it a try myself, just haven't had the time.

Just completed the mod on my 2015 - worked like a charm. Same configuration as the example, which was what I was expecting, really.
I didn't do the AC/defroster mod because I'm ok with it as-is. Many thanks to Dano.oh for taking the time to develop this mod and for sharing it with his fellow TW'ers.

Man I love this forum. Just did this mod and it works great. Now if I can figure out how to stop my 2015 Camry from automatically going into recirculate mode (it does it on start up if the temp is above a certain degree), I'll be a happy camper.

For those of you that have done this mod, is there any chance both the brown and pink wire could both be inserted into the pink wire position on the connector, and avoid the need to splice?

That won't work because the metal connector at the end of the wire is made to fit into a slot in the plastic plug. You can't just shove two into there. I used a quick splice connector to avoid cutting wires.

thanks, didn't know there was a connector on wire, guess I was thinking bare wire into a connector within the multi-plug.

Thanks. Works GREAT on a 2015!! It took only about 20 minutes. The hardest part was to work the brown/white wire out of the connector without cutting. I did a milatary splice and solder. No butt connectors on those small gauge wires.

Just did the mod. It took 10 minutes and works as advertised.

    Nice job OP!

Did mine, love it! Thought at first I had messed something up, as the recirc. would not come on; learned that recirc. is not available in defrost mode. Bullet dodged.

If you had the terminal that Toyota used for the connector you would still need to cut both off and put both into the single terminal and then insert the terminal into the plug.
it would look factory as all get out!

If I could I would do it that way. Just my OCD ADD with honors kicking in!
Terminal sizes can be hard to find out sometimes. The right guy working in the parts dept can help though.

I may do this mod. I was a service adviser for years and got sick and tired of trying to educate new owners that A/C is a dehumidifier not necessarily a cooler of sorts. A/C works like a beast when it's nice and humid outside and you have good airflow to your condenser.
The best way to defrost a windshield is to dry the air. So the ability to get A/C on regardless of temp was a nice thing. Then you started seeing manufacturers making cars with A/C on
default with defrost. Guess they wanted to force it, Lol... We answered more calls for that one too.

I didn't realize the Max A/C feature also moved the water valve to the "complete" off position, that's what makes me want to do this.
I want to be able to have fresh air at whatever temp I chose!

On my old 85 SR5 4x4, it was just two buttons and three knobs. :headbang:

I have that now but with a lot of electronics involved...:ballchain:

Did this mod this weekend on my 2014. Worked like a charm. Super easy and fast. Works so much better this way! Big props to the OP!

I did both the A/C Defrost disable mod and the Max A/C disable mod last weekend and now the recirculate button doesn't work. Did I do something wrong or is this the way it's supposed to be? (2014 Access Cab if that makes a difference.)

I posted this back in July, see if that's your issue:

Thanks, NotRed, but mine isn't working in heat or A/C mode either. It's totally dead.
