Thanks! I was mostly kidding about the ARB fridge, but after reading around I realized the ARB fridge had a 12V plug so I'll probably put one in there too.

Is the Tacoma's reverse really on the left?

Interesting...I'm not an expert on manuals but I've always seen the gear all the way on the right and low.

The 5-speed manual in the first gens are like that. I guess Toyota figured that for the 6-speed it was better to accidentally shift into reverse instead of first gear than to have the same thing happen trying to go into 5th gear or something when deciding where to put that reverse gear. :notsure:

When I drove my first manual in driver's ed the reverse was also on the left, but there was a ring on the shift lever that needed to be pulled up before the shifter could go into reverse. In the Tacoma, there is a soft stop and then a noticeable increase in the amount of force needed to move the lever into reverse tree. It was weird at first but I got used to it.

It's different from manufacturer to manufacturer
Audi, and VW have the reverse where 1st is but once you are in between 1st and 2nd, you press down and move it foward and then you there

Dead thread revival! In the past 6 months I'd been slowly getting ready for Rock Therapy 2015 in Moab. First off, I replaced the AVEC light pods with Rigid Dually D2 HD's with the driving beam and installed the 50" radius lightbar from Vivid Illumination using light bar brackets from Trac Performance.

I haven't had the chance to run the Rigids at night yet, but from a short test around sunset I can already tell that they're much brighter than the old pods. The 50" light bar is just incredible and puts out a huge flood of light in front of the vehicle and easily overpowers the stock headlights. It makes me want to upgrade the stock headlights to HID's, if anything just to make the color temp a little whiter so they don't seem so yellow after the light bar is turned off.

Both lights are controlled by a couple of switches installed in the overhead console.

Next up, I installed the Cobra 75 WX ST CB radio. It works well, and install is simplified because there is a tiny remote box, and then all the controls are in the handheld unit with the microphone. I installed the remote box under the center cupholders. For the antenna, I got the 3' Firestik II and installed it with a spring on the BAMF tailgate mount.

Holding the mic is a custom mount made by Insain Fab

I got a 60" Hi-lift jack and mounted it on the 4xinnovations mount. The mounts are pretty beefy, made from 3/16" steel plate. I did add a small piece of weatherstripping on the bottom of them for a little cushion. The square cutouts for the carriage bolts were also slightly too big, but a few seconds with an impact gun fixed that. I also replaced the included wingnuts with bigger plastic knobs.

I got a jobsite toolbox to carry recovery gear and tools. I added d-rings to the sides of the box so that it could be tied down along with the spare tire (it's too big to fit under the bed), and added a pair of d-rings to the front of the bed.

Finally, after having two different tire shops complain to me about the balljoints in the Light Racing UCAs, I replaced them with the Total Chaos uniball UCAs that I ordered from DSM.

I had so much to add that I forgot to list the Wet Okole seat covers. I'll get pics of those later since more changes are coming. My camber is messed up on the passenger side and it's probably caused by a bent spindle so I ordered the Total Chaos swaybar-compatible spindle gussets yesterday. My swaybar is long gone, but these have a gusset for the steering knuckle for added strength compared to the regular spindle gussets.

    Also, this arrived today: :yay:

I can try to get some pics this weekend. I read in your build thread that you were thinking about getting new 285's. Are you looking to change things up a little? :)
