Hey everyone, I bought my 2013 Tacoma RCSB 4x4 5 Speed about 3 weeks ago and have been lurking ever since so I figured I would finally post up. I'm not new to Toyota's, but this is my first Tacoma. I know of about 31 different Toyota's owned between my aunts/uncles, grandparents, and parents in the last 27 years; let alone more distant family and friends. I had a 1988 4Runner with the 3.0L and 5 speed about 5 or 6 years ago and I loved it to death. Unfortunately I was a bit too rough on her as my first 4wd and she didn't even last a year before repairs added up to ridiculous amounts, I sold her after she sat for about 2 years when I realized I would never have the money or energy to get her fixed back up the way I wanted. I've been itching for another Toyota 4wd ever since and I couldn't be happier with what I ended up getting :)

My best friend bought the red 2008 DCSB TRD Sport with the 6 speed 3 days after I got my Tacoma. I took it camping the first weekend I had her and got her stuck, the second weekend my friend and I took them to the ORV park by Manhattan, KS, and the 3rd weekend I had her in about 2.5-3' of water exploring after another blast of heavy rain. The more time I spend with her the more I fall in love with her. I can't wait to get a few mods on her. I'm trimming the mud flaps tomorrow, then I'll probably black out the emblems, then start looking for some FJ steelies because I absolutely HATE the wheels currently on it haha. Everyone I know likes them, and I've tried to learn to like them too, but I despise them!

Anyways, I'm loving browsing the wealth of knowledge on the forum and look forward to much more time spent on here :)

Welcome to TW. Nice pics. I agree with ya on the rims, they don't look right with the short WB.

Thanks guys. Got the mudflaps trimmed up this afternoon, sent my buddy and dad the pics and they both asked if I'd lifted the truck haha

These pictures are from when I got stuck the first weekend I had her. I was out exploring some property for sale just outside of town and pulled up to this spot, got out and looked it over and decided not to give it a try. As I backed up to turn around I got to see it from a different angle and decided I could easily make it. As soon as I entered the whole truck slid off of my original line and I got high centered. Thankfully I missed sliding into a 2 foot ditch on the driver side. And thanks to an old man with a tractor who lived about 1/2 mile a way and wouldn't take any payment, the Taco and I made it to our lunch plans that day haha.

Congrats on the new truck. You came to the right place for tacomas. Looks like a sticky situation you got in there. Haha.

I definitely couldn't have gotten out by myself and these tires definitely aren't designed for mud haha. I'm hoping to keep her mostly stock with only bolt on additions, nothing too crazy. I'll probably get the black FJ steelies pretty soon. I was wanting the black 6 spoke TRD wheels but the steelies make a lot more sense to my wallet. After that I'd like to add some auxiliary lighting and the stock fog lights, I have a window mount for my phone and frequently use it as a dash cam and the stock headlights just don't show enough at night for my phones camera :). Within the next year I'd also like to add a full set of budbuilt skids and BAMF sliders with a kickout, either Goodyear Wrangler MT/R's or Hankook Dynapro MT's in 265/70r17, and one of those Undercover HWMS :p. I also have plans to get together with my buddy in Colorado and build a bed rack and storage system and add a rooftop tent. I'm also still tossing around the idea of upgrading to the Bilstein 5100's and setting it up for 1-2" of lift. I don't really need it as I'm planning on staying around a 31" tire, but I'd like the more aggressive look for when I'm mall crawling and I've heard the ride is better. I haven't looked to see what all is involved with adding the backup camera so I may do that as well? We'll see what all happens for this Toy, I'm excited :D

The fj wheels are a good choice and soft on the wallet. I want some scs sr8 wheels but they are pricey. Look awesome in my opinion though. And yeah stock headlights are no where near enough light for night videos. I put a 30" light bar on and was really happy with it till I got a new bumper and got some Hellas I converted to hid. Not as much fill light as the light bar but throws it farther down the trail. The 5100s are a great upgrade too. And you can set them to stock height or 2.7" lift. You might wanna add a leaf if you do lift it. I have 31.5 tires and am gonna be moving up to 35s when I get front and rear done. Bigger tire handles bumps way better. Look into a 285 I think they are like a 32 or 32.5. Once you start to lift the tires will look small. Anyways seems like you already have a lot planned. Haha. My truck has been burning a hole in my wallet the last 6 months since I started doing a full long travel build. Haha. On yeah and reg cab for the win!

If/when I do upgrade to the 5100's I'll probably lift it a little, I'll think about that tire size and probably lift the truck according to how it handles the tires. I was thinking about add-a-leafs but it almost seems like I read somewhere it would be a better upgrade to get the OME Dakar leaf pack and remove a leaf since it's the RGSB and I never really haul anything more than a buddy and a couple backpacks of camping gear. We'll see what happens when the time comes. I'm hoping to get the FJ steelies this month then that'll be it for a little while. Everything else I want costs too much :p

Ha I've got a list of stuff close to a grand that I want/need. Also with the fj wheels you'll need to run a toyota specific lug nut also. You can't use an aftermarket.

Did you ever get new rims for your Tacoma. If so, would you be willing to sell the set that was on your Tacoma. I got cheap Tacoma stock steel wheels and absolutely hate them. Which it sounds is how you feel about the ones that came on your Tacoma that I'm interested in.

Tires say 245 75R 16 These are original tires and rims on a 2010. My brother bought the truck new and only put 1600 miles on it. It sat in his garage and was never driven in rain or any snow. I bought it off him and have only driven it a few months. It now only has about 4500 miles on it Tires and rims look like brand new.

Ah, if they were 17" steel wheels I might have been up for a trade lol. I think I'm going to go with SCS SR8's in the dark bronze though
