Well last night my a/c light started flashing and waves of warm air began to fill the truck. I did some research last night on here and found where many have replaced the a/c relay with much success.

I just went to autozone and had them run the relay # and they found a relay in stock (albeit was not a denso relay). I plugged it in and I am still experiencing the a/c flashing and warm air.

Where do I go from here? Is it possible that I need an actual Denso relay for it to operate correctly? If not, should I trying charging the a/c with freon?

Your help would be very much appreciated as it is no fun riding around in 85 degree weather without a/c

    thanks in advance

Often times the same relay is used in several slots. See if the original a/c relay is used elsewhere in a slot that won't affect the safe operation of the truck. If so, swap it and see what happens.

It is probably the AC Clutch slipping. It could be the clutch is bad or the compressor is locking up.

It's telling you some thing if F'ed up. Try and turn the compressor with you hand (engine off of course) My guess is if the light is flashing it most likely means there is power through the relay. There is a speed sensor for the compressor that lest the system know the compressor is turning.

this morning i pushed the a/c button on and off a few times and noticed a "clunk" type noise as if something is trying to engage. it did it every time i pushed the button.

it may be worth mentioning that last week i went and purchased a polaris sportsman 550xp atv and that thing barely fit in the bed of the truck. could it be that with all the weight in the back of the bed, combined with the running of the a/c, caused something to break or malfunction?

btw, i have no idea about the location of the compressor or how to turn it.

OK have a friend help you. I'm guessing the compressor is locked up the A/C control will not engage the compressor if it sees no movement to keep from trashing the belt and stopping every thing. You could put 5 tons in the bad and it would have no effect on the A/C

A loaded bed has nothing to do with it.

The compressor will look kinda like the alternator, but look for the lineset hoses... Two rubber hoses from the comp. on the passenger side. The inner portion of the compressor pulley should turn freely.
