Anybody know what that 5 pounds is? I have that same sticker on mine, and can't for the life of me think of what it could be! Door sill protector?
Remove the rear headrests and seats of your A/C... Easily 20 pounds, make that sticker a +15 pounds now! :woot:

Took my '15 DCSB 4x4 TRD sport to the dump the scale said I had 1490 lbs of scrap in the bed. No sagging, not hitting the bumpstops, handled it w/o any problem. A little slow getting up to speed tho.

Tacomas are quarter tons... not half ton trucks.

Brochure curb weights are notoriously suspect. Here's an excerpt from an article that talked about how some other mfrs gamed the curb weight:

So the brochure curb weight is probably based on a "base model trim" that has no sound deadening, base seats, hand crank windows, no spare tire, etc...

Here's 1100 lbs. I've done 1300 on stock leafs. This load I travelled 4 miles with 5 or 6 ratchet tie downs. I really would like to upgrade those leafs though.

I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
Its a truck, so of course payload and Towing are major factors in purchasing. Why would anybody buy a truck with no payload and no Towing.... ?
What is the point of buying truck that can only drive with empty bed?

I don't know either, maybe for items that are added as options from the factory? The only thing I had added to mine was floor mats and I bet they are probably around 5 pounds total. So maybe the more options you check when ordering the truck, the more weight is knocked off in capacity.

2015 DCSB, 4-leaf pack (I think), and had the opportunity to haul 20, 25lb bags of tree bark + two passengers. should be right around 900lbs or so and I had no issues at all. I didn't do a before/after loading it up comparison, but it looked a tiny bit squatted down - nothing that I found concerning. No riding the bumpstops over about a 5 mile drive. The truck drove noticeably more smoothly, IMO. This is simply my experience, YMMV.

Good data points, thanks! My 2015 DCSB V6 AT 4X4 TRD OR Tow Package with no other options (not even floor mats) has a door sticker at 1050 I believe. Makes sense the AC 2.7L MT is higher, good to see some configuration gets up to 1200 at least!
