Just got my first Tacoma last week - a 2012 4WD Quad w/ 9K mi. Been reading a few threads - a lot of great info. Hope at some point I can contribute. I am trying to go a size or 2 up on the tires with out 'lifting'. Does anyone think I'll have any issues with a 285/70r17 (32.8 diameter)/ Looks like I have some room from the 265/65r17's.

285's will rub like a mo fo but the 265/75/16 or the 265/70/17 will fit with mild rubbing till you take off the very front mud flaps in front of the front tires

Those ones are pretty much pointless anyways eventually you'll end up trimming all your flaps or taking them off completely

265 70 r17 size tires should work just fine for you. (Assuming you have 17 inch wheels)

Thx. Looking at Toyo Open Country A/T in a 275/65r18. 32" diameter and 11" width. Factory tires are 30.6 - seems like there's more than an inch even with wheels turn all the way. Anyone ever try that size? I think your right the tread depth might make a difference.
