Had my shoes squeek when letting off the brakes, I greased the back plate contact points for the shoes.

The parking brake grabbed fine before, the problem was when I test fit the drum on the drivers side (without the 2 retaining pins/clips), I pulled the drum off and the shoes were stuck in the drums pretty good. Managed to get it off and reinstall. Did both sides but the parking brake now seems to mostly grab the passenger wheel. I tightened up the drivers star adjuster 10 clicks and tested the parking brake, the passenger side seems to lockup faster when driving. I then backed off the star adjuster 10 clicks. I've watched the shoes expand when I had someone use he parking brake, it seems as if the front shoe is the one that moved.

The correct way to adjust the brake shoes on the rear is to tighten the star adjuster until the wheel locks. Then back it off 18 clicks. Do this on both sides and they will be balanced.

    As per the service manual.

Please be sure that you did not move / bend / replace any parts under the drum / parking brake when you had the drums off and / or sticking / pulling on the drums to get them off the shoes. IF you still have issues I suggest a re check.

Also, be careful of any grease/lube in the brake area. Besides the obvious issues with grease migrating to the shoes, any thing that can grab and hold the break dust / drum iron filings will be sure to goop up the brakes in short order ....

Good luck and let us know if you do find anything ....

I didn't have much time to check, I did pull the drum off again everything looks normal and functional. Not sure what else I can check, is it possible a cable stretched?

Why when I tighten the drivers side shoes does it seem as if the passenger side also seems to lockup sooner when testing the parking brake?
