i just bought a 2011 Tacoma, TRD OR, 4.0L. its completely stock except for my ready start remote start. when i go to turn my truck all the way off the the running lights stay on and so does the blower motor. i can turn the blower off with the switch and have full function of them but if my truck is off i shouldnt be able to do that..? any ideas on what the hell it could be? oh and i will totally drain my battery in 5 hours and i cant do anything to stop it unless i unplug my battery:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Is it possible to ask the previous owner what's up with it?

It seems to me that the starter unit may be wired incorrectly..... or you now have a bad unit.

You have constant power from the box to the lights and blower.

Sounds like an issue with the way the remote start was wired . Even though everything works ,doesnt mean its wired correctly . Talk to the original owner to find out where the remote was installed,,,,dealership or aftermarket . Have someone go through the wiring and double check . Last thing you need is a fire under your dash .

Where does the remote start get power from? Unplugging it doesn't mean shit as someone needed a constant hot +12V wire to keep the remote active. They could have jumped a circuit (IGN1 would be my guess) to do so. Remove the remote start completely. A few ideas should removing the remote starter not resolve the issue.

It could be a bad ignition switch not opening the contacts.

Another possibility is an ignition relay that is stuck on - not common, but can happen when the relay contacts arc on closing, fusing the relay contacts together. Had that in my old VW a few times, finally get tired of booting the fuse panel when I wanted to shut it off, and replaced the relay.

When the symptom is present, pull any ign. relays and see if the problem subsides. If it does, swap another relay into that spot to check if a bad relay, or fault in the control circuit.
