Workout devices or routines for small areas?

    Does anyone recommend any certain device for working out in a small-ish apartment/house?
    I want something that I can use consistently without worrying about the weather, or how dark it is outside, etc. I get home from work pretty burnt out and end up on the TV for some portion of the evening, so I figure I could be at least pedaling or walking while doing that.
    My friend uses a Bowflex Max Trainer 5, but I was considering one of those bike trainers that I could strap my mountain bike on and pedal mindlessly while having netflix play.

    What are your guys' opinions on this? Is it pointless? What equipment do you recommend, or do you have a routine that works in a bedroom-sized area? (I have the Insanity videos on my computer, but fell off the cart)

    Get a doorway pullup bar. Go outside and run. Come back in do crunches, pullups, pushups, lunges, squats etc. Get a boxing timer app and do tabatas if you want to get crazy.

    Lose roughly 70 lbs. Strength isn't as much of an issue as cardio at the moment.

    I can't do a pull up (5'11", 250lbs). If I had supermodels encouraging me, a death shark below me, and a billion dollars just out of reach, I couldn't do it.
    This shouldn't give you a picture of me being lazy, I will sit there and grunt against that damn bar until you tell me to get down or I end up falling off.

    This is fine for summer (I walk 1.5 miles almost every day), but I'm looking at a year round capability. In the winter of the Pacific Northwet it gets dark (no street lights) and there's no sidewalks. My neighbors like to do 50 down my 25mph street.

    I've been trying to keep with Insanity videos but being honest with myself, there's some nights where I get home at 9:30pm, brain is fried, and trying to schedule up another hour of something ends up falling through the cracks.

    I think I might try having a set of index cards with an exercise written down on each (like push ups, jumping jacks...). Shuffle the cards, pick 4, and that's what I get to do for 20 minutes or however long my TV show lasts. If I want to watch more, I pick out another set.
