    Hey Everyone,

Now that this forum has helped me decide that a Tacoma is a good fit for me, I'm having one heck of a time deciding on getting a 2015 or waiting on a 2016. It will mostly be a daily driver, occasional things in the bed and may tow a smaller boat or camper. I've come up with this list:

    2015
    Pros:

    Available Now
    Reliable (from what I've read).
More basic than the upcoming so it should be easier to work on and to get parts for
Torque made at lower rpm (from what I hear)

    Cons:
    Dated Interior
    Poor MPG
    5-speed transmission

    2016:
    Pros:

    Updated modern design
    Updated Powertrain
    Lots more gadgets and gizmos
    More mpg (guess)
Probably rated to tow more and have more payload (guess)

    Cons:
First Gen of any car is always a bit of a risk
    Unknown HP/Torque Ratings
From what I've seen in these modern V6's, you have to rev the hell out of them if you tow anything to get to get to the proper area in the torque band.
    Release date?

I'd like to see who else has any input on this. I'm not trying to open a can of worms here but I'd like to see some opinions to see if I can sway one way or the other. Are there any big issues with the current gen Tacoma I should watch out for? I have a dealer about 2 hours away from me that has 34 2015 Tacomas sitting around that I'm thinking I may go look at this weekend. Any and all opinions/facts are welcome.

    Thanks!!

I can't bring myself to buy a first year vehicle of a new run. I like how I can go to the internet an find how issues are solved. More years, more data. That's just me. I know, I was no help.

A little of this and a little of that.
If you can wait, get the 2016.

I almost never like to buy a first year of a new generation. If I were to do it then Toyota or Honda would be the only two I'd be willing to risk.

I have no use for the GoPro mount. I don't really need to see the replay of me dropping my son off at daycare :).

As for the cost thats a very good point. I'm pretty set at right around $32k-$34k and I don't want to go any higher. I have no idea what the new Tacos will cost but I don't really see them going above 34k (save TRD PRO) for the most part. The GM Colo/Canyon twins are right around that 34-35 mark and I don't see toyota wanting to go to far above that. Fair assumption?

I agree with you on Toyota & Honda being the only manufacturers that I'd buy first year model change vehicles.

Toyota will want to sell any remaining 2015's, but they also want to get the 2016's on the roads. Stick to your price and be ready to walk away when the dealer doesn't meet it.
    Good luck.

If your patient, wait for the 16. Check it out/test it and then make your decision. I personally dont like the look of the 16, and dont like all the gizmos. More expensive stuff to break. With reliabity, i doubt that'll be an issue. Toyota knows how to make a reliable truck. I dont think they'll screw it up. There will be recalls no doubt, but thats them standing behind their product.

Buy a 2015 upgrade the supsension then trade it in on a 2016 or 2017 and loose verry little money.

I actually like the new look (contrary to popular opinion it seems). I'm with you on the gizmos. I'm curious to see how you will be able to spec them and see if I can avoid all the extra junk.
