Hi, my wife and I want to buy a new 2015 Tacoma Prerunner SWB V6. The dealer has it listed for 32,000. I was wondering what the dealer payed for it and how low can we go with our offer.

I know the 3rd Gen is coming out soon and we can use that as leverage. Any help would be much appreciated.

Plus one. I paid $32k for my15 DCLB 4WD TRD Sport in November of last year, sticker was $34.5k. Don't expect too much leverage, Tacoma sales have been on the up even with the 16 release. If you don't buy it someone else will. GL!

go onto cars.com or auto trader and price out what other dealers are offering. check vegas as well. If you can get 10% off MSRP then you're in good shape....aim for 14% which is what i did and got it. They'll sell you on the 2015 since they have to get rid of the inventory so use that to your advantage. Bring examples of what other dealers are offering and go from there. WHATEVER YOU DO.....DONT LET THEM CONCENTRATE ON MONTHLY PMT. Bring it back to the price of the truck. They try to sell the affordability. If you get the truck price down the pmt will be low regardless. Good luck buddy!

Thanks for all the replies. I'm going to look at autotrader.com and truecar hopefully I can go down to 14%.

If you're willing to travel look at the other dealerships in your area. I drove 2 hours away to Dallas because local dealers knew I wanted a Tacoma and nothing else. They thought they had me by the balls but I contacted 3 dealers in the Dallas metroplex and those jokers were ready to move volume. I saved 2k under what I was originally willing to spend.

Don't forget Costco auto program... the deal is invoice and they must show you the invoice. Also included 50% off a factory accessory. I bought running boards.

I will only negotiate "out the door prices".

Dealers have a funny way of adding additional costs after you make the deal. Say to them once you have your "best" deal. "So I bring you a check in the amount of $xxxxx.xx and the truck is mine.

If they say no or start mentioning various fees, taxes, etc. above the figure you just quoted as your check total, the you do not have the OTD price. Until you do you don't really know what the truck total price is.

Hang tough but not nasty in your negotiations. You may have to go through this with several dealers. They sure hate it when you walk and usually come up with a better price when you start for the door.

Remember it is your money and they are not in love with their vehicles. Everyone is for sale in an effort to make quotas.

SOOOO TRUE!!! when i was thinking of trading in mine i told the sales man i was just looking and i just wanted to look.I toyed with him and said i would see what he could do but told him i was just looking but i wanted to look at other vehicles. He literally dropped the price 4K without me even trying and about to walk......came back 1 week later looked at the same taco and got him down further.

I'm not saying I bent them over the counter but I was willing to get up and walk. That made all the difference.

yup...you're always "Just looking"...." I wasn't thinking I needed a new truck but I was reading in xxx that the tacoma is a solid truck so I came in to see what all the fuss was about..."
"I guess I could test drive one to get a hands on..."
    they offer you a price
"Well it seems to drive nicely compared to my brothers xxxx but I don't know if I'm ready to may $xxx for a new truck right now"
    they offer a lower price
"Hmm...that's a better sounding price but my wife would kill me if I spent that much on a new truck..."
He talks to the 'manager' and comes back with an even lower price...
"Well you're getting in my ballpark...but I can't drive this truck off the lot for any more than $xxx"

Try that...and once they give you their rock bottom you get on the phone to other dealers and give them a chance to beat the price
"I was talking today with Homer at Springfield Toyota and he's offered me a Tacoma with x x x for $xxx can you beat that?"

I did that with a car once and got another $1500 off and the original dealer didn't believe the price and called the dealearship and was wowed by the lowball price...

Well just bought the new truck for the wife. Was stickered at 28,800 got it for 26,000 and uped the trade in value 1000 more than they offered on the Nissan she had as well as lowered the APR a couple more points than the original offer. Overall I'm happy with the deal.

As for me, I'll be looking at a 2013 Camaro SS in Huntington Beach tomorrow. Hopefully I will have something new (to me) as well. Oh, and my 98 Tacoma is staying in the family.

    Thanks to everyone who replied.

I used the Costco buying program to get my 2015. I looked at truecar also, but Costco gave me the best deal after all my searching and various visits to Toyota dealerships around my area in So Cal.
