This not for my tacoma, but instead for my wifes pilot.

I know its not 2nd gen related but I value the opinion of those on this site, and hell its slow at work so I thought I get some ideas from you bums.

My wife got into an accident with her pilot about a year and half ago. Had the repair done at a local autobody that my family has used for many years ( they have repaired our cars over 7 times over the past decade or so).

To make the long story short, the paint is bubbling on the door that they repainted (inserted pic)IMG-20150609-WA0004.jpg .

Should an autobody stand by their work even after a year and a half?

Regardless of any written warranty a good shop will stand behind their work You will learn a lot about them when you take it back. They will know immediately that its their fault regardless of what they agree to do.

They should but unfortunately rust is one of those areas where some shops may just say you're on your own.

The bubbling is moisture under the paint, the shop didn't use the correct product undercoatings and correct drying time. Your Qtr panel below the door also is round and not sharp and has paint issues to it. The shop should stand behind this and know what happened, warranty or not.

If you filed a claim with your insurance company and the body shop you selected at that time happen to be under their direct repair program, regardless if they aren't under it now your insurance company will usually take care of it because the work has a lifetime warranty from your insurance company because you use one of their DRP's to do the work.

i would assume you should have warrenty still and that repair looks like crap. you can see the bondo in the 1/4. its mishapen as pointed out above too. we have a lifetime warrenty at our shop on repairs.

i would be having them redo the repairs or really if thats the quality of work they put out id be going back to the insurance company and asking to have it redone at another shop.
