We will have to see if it actually opens but it would be cool if we could get this going today. I have a few odds and ends, errand-wise, so if it opens, we will start planning details.

    What haven’t I changed?
Took some pics for you Noah. I'm kinda with you on this one though. If I had known that the stock skid brackets were needed for install then I would've gone with different skids. That said, I've used the front skid plate as a jack point for my truck and it's held up so I'm not concerned about the strength and have no doubt that it'll protect the front if I come down on a big rock.

Here's where the front skid bolts to the stock bracket. I've pushed the skid forward a little bit so there's a small gap.

Passenger side bracket. I might cut off the threaded bolt hole in the stock bracket in the lower left. The skid plate is right up against it and pushing it slightly up.

Driver side bracket. Plenty of clearance here.

Let me know if you need more pics and I can run out to my garage and get them.

So it's been so long since I had the stock skid on but it appears that this design actually maintains factory clearance rather then improving on it like most aftermarket skids do. Interesting...

Yeah I got it on this morning before I left for my trip. Still makes no sense to me that they retain the stock braces. Takes away a lot of clearance.

Thanks to bigfella13 (nick) for letting me pick up the braces last night.

    Thanks for the pics @chenbro

saw the rainX window cleaner + rain repellent at HD, decided to give it a try.

Figured worst case I end up with clean windows, best case it works as advertised and I can see better

The reason josh (owner of rci) uses the stock brackets is because he has had a lot of people complain that they had to remove the brackets. So he had to decided between two different groups of people complaining. The hight of the skid has not hindered as of yet.
