hello everyone, I am about to be buying some (i guess simple?) electrical accessories for my Tacoma at the end of the week and I am a complete wiring noobie and the thought of messing with electricity is just daunting to me (i know to disconnect the battery before touching anything, thats a given). I am actually going against my better judgement of not ever tampering with my vehicle's wiring but i really would like to have these upgrades. Anyway.. I'm in the market for a pair of Westin offroad driving lights (to go along with a westin off road light bar) and a pair of hella supertone horns. Both accessories come with relays and I would like to know if there's anything i can do, or buy to make things under the hood look neat and clean and practically factory? or is there any practices to employ like the use of slip connectors to make everything so that at any point it could be fully reversed back to stock? Any tips, tricks or products are welcome. thanks a bunch in advance.

I like to use heat shrink at connectors and such... Gives a nice clean appearance and keeps dirt out of connectors

Definitely use heat shrink, whether you use solder or crimp connections (use solder where possible I would suggest). Loom and zip ties are a good easy way to keep the wires routed where you want them. I would also suggest following the path of preexisting wires when routing the new ones, if possible.

if im not mistaken, i believe the driving lights come with a nice weather proof harness. if anyone is experienced with westin products, id like to know if there is a switch i could buy that could go and fit nicely in an existing dummy slot? because it does come with a switch but i believe its a universal switch

I also tossed all the wiring and the relay that came with my hella lights and bought all new. I used heat shrink connectors and tubing for my connections. Here's a pic of some of the wires. May be overkill, but they'll never fail due to moisture.

Assuming the Westin harness is wired like most other harnesses, the switch just has some spade connectors on the back, so you can swap it out for any switch you want. I use one of the oem rocker switches that a lot of other members use (oem toyota, but not from a tacoma). I'll try to dig up the part number in a little bit. It fit in the bank under my e-locker with very minimal trimming.
