Im a 2wd PreRunner, Im just doing the things I've been wanting to do since I bought it in 05 started moding it two years ago but when I went to heavy 33" tires I regeared to 4.10 that was a great gear and could handle 33" and 34" tires. This last regear I went with the 4.88 and put in the locker I am running 35" tires around 82 probably more pounds a piece, I am running true with what GrimmJeeper has calculated about 23000 24000 rpm's at 70 mph the gas has gone from 18.5 to 17.0 and I have not lost any power. I have not driven the required 500 miles to break in the gears yet because the truck is not my daily driver but I think those numbers will stay the same after the break-in period. My next mod is a tranny cooler because I do believe I will be going 36" or 37" in the future, I upgraded my front brakes and put on new wheel bearings on the front when I put the 33's on so I don't have that to worry about that. I have been running Nitto's Trails in both sizes 285/70/17 and 35/12.5/17 now, I did have a new set of Arturo Trail Blades, but they were not 35" tires as a matter of fact they were not close to 35 they measured 34" but they advertised them as 35's plus the rubber was very soft so I don't believe they would have lasted very long. I know the Nitto's are 34.83" but that is damn close to 35's and the last set I have look brand new so I still have them I will probably sell them when I go to 36-37's as soon as I compile enough information as to what I will need to run 37's other than gears.

Wow. Great price. I was just quoted $1900 to regear with 4.56's.

Yeah I was quoted 2000 for a front and rear regear with labor and parts. That's without the lockers or compressor which will total 2500 on it's own. It appears around 5G's for full regear and lockers. What are your thoughts on the factory trd E locker? I'm not impressed and not even sure if it engages lol

have you considered lockrite lockers? only lock when you need em, and unlock as soon as throttle is reduced. For the once a year you will need em, that may be a more cost effective option, and I hear that they are pretty seamless to drive with every day.

I will be going with that option when I have the $$

I was not aware that was an option. I would like complete control of my locker, driving around town and having it lock then unlock sounds damaging to me. Also I would like to have a compressor to air tires with.

Rad will do both them and yotamasters are about equal distance from me so whoever quotes better with service to back it up. I was referred to Oceanside driveline, has anyone heard of them? How much was the locker and gear instal btw

I just wanted you to know you can get brand new out of the box 4.10 gears from Nitro that's where yotamasters got mine. You don't need used 4.10 gears if you want to go that route.

Good luck to you Krs1760, I would like to see what you come up with sometimes you can catch the group buys here on TW I got alot of my stuff from them so you can save some money on the cost of parts at least. Someone is calling for another group buy for ECGS might want to look into that or just give them a call and see what they can do on a discount won't hurt to ask.

Well!?!? The suspense is killing me. Did he get it regeared? How much did it cost? Who did he go with? Tune in next week to find out!

But seriously I'm looking to do the exact same thing Nitro 4.10 Front and Rear without breaking the bank. My wife will let me do it under $1500. Don't need the air lockers though... Yet.

4.10 from 3.73 is a waste of time. I bet you won't notice any difference. Put the numbers into a gearing calculator.
If you're running 33" tires, 4.56 gears will only run about 200rpm higher than stock gears and tires at 70mph. You WANT to turn just a couple extra RPM to help move the extra rolling mass and help make up for the weight.
Of all the times I've re-geared I've never made a jump smaller than 3.73 to 4.56, or 4.10 to 4.88. Usually jumping about 3" in tire height in each case.

I just ordered from east coast gear Supply. $3k for 4.56 gears, two arb lockers, new front bearings, and a ckma12 compressor (free with arb promo). Again I've plugged in the numbers to various calculators and it will be slightly lower geared than stock, about 200rpm higher at 70mph.

Similar situation as the original poster. 33" tires, picking up a four wheel camper next month. Only my truck is supercharged. If it wasn't supercharged I probably would have gone even lower with the gearing to help move the extra weight.

Edit: my numbers reference an auto transmission
