I bought a used 1996 2wd Tacoma. It had a large "cap" on the back, industrial style.

I have removed the cap and now the rear rides pretty high. My garden-variety shock absorbers are stretched so that the shield sleeve is showing the internal rod when the truck is standing parked.

I'm thinking maybe they put some kind of stiffer suspension on this thing? What should I do to lower it?

Here is a picture of overall ride-height

Here is a picture of the driver's side shock. It is extended out so that
the upper cover-tube is not quite making it to the lower tube.

Here is a picture toward the passenger side

The other option would be longer shocks?

I only have 3 life springs . If you look at the springs there should be a number on the top of the spring and then verified it with this site 101parts.net to see if they are the right ones .

Thanks! I will check that out. How big of a project it is to take out a leaf?

About a hr or so as long as the bolts are not hard to take off aka rusted . And if you have ever a strap it helps .
