Trying to figure out power options right now, whether or not to add an on-delay timer. But the camera is performing flawlessly so far. I'll go ahead and assemble a post on my build tomorrow.

I live in South Florida and the sun is scorching during the daytime....The cameras get HOT!!! As a precaution I take them off sometimes so they dont melt on me, but so far no biggie.

 

i didn't get the this model after all, I got something generic on ebay, will chime in later....

I just want to give my 2 cents on this Blackvue setup: if you live in hot climate, running the camera continuously via the Magic Pro will overheat the camera. When the car is parked, there's no air circulation, so the heat from the camera and the heat inside the cabin will toast the internal components. You will see blank or washed out recordings. Heat seems to be the main downfall to this camera. I ditched my Magic Pro because of this.

I like the ability to move the camera to a different car with ease. I just buy extra mount kits and install in different cars instead of buying a camera for each car. The simple and compact mounting base is also a good thing. From my crash experience, things inside the cabin just got knocked out of place from the impacts. The Blackvue remained in place and kept on rolling. I see other cams with fancy pivot mounts or even suction cups; those will surely get knocked out of service from a big impact.

I have one for myself and one for my wife's car. They've been running without issues for 2 years and have more than paid for themselves on few occasions.

 

The heat is definitely an issue. I have been removing my dash cam when I get to work in the AM (since I can see my car from my desk) and I put it in the center console. This is because the camera gets SCORCHING HOT.

Thanks for the tip about the magic pro. I have the 12 hours setting, perhaps I can lessen that time. It might be too long for Florida.

 

As promised, here is my setup. (Sorry for the delay)

This is the Mobius ActionCam type B. Type B is wide angle (116 degrees), and type A is normal.


I also ordered a power connector that allowed me to hard wire the camera into the truck.

Picked up power at the interior fuse panel and ran a hot wire over to the passenger side kick panel, hiding the box inside the structural area under the plastic cover.




I had to get rather creative with fabricating a mount for the camera, and went through a couple of pieces of hardware to finally produce the perfect mount.

I think I saw mounting brackets for the Mobius I like your set up but why not use the brackets it comes with.

 

I have a background in outfitting police, fire, and EMS vehicles with electronics; and have thusly built up a bit of experience when it comes to positioning and mounting equipment. I saved a few bucks by doing it myself, versus paying for a mount that might not do exactly what I want.

could anyone post some pictures how they run their lines to cigarette power source? I have a 2013 tacoma base reg cab.

i like to get some reference, which panel can be tucked in and which can't be...

Start out at the top of the windshield. Gently pry the edge of the overhead panel with one hand while shoving the cord in with the other. Work your way to the passenger front pillar cover. Remove the grab handle and gently lift off the pillar cover piece. Tuck the wire in there along the edge. Be careful not to block the airbag with it. Continue running the cord down to behind the glove compartment by slightly pry on the edge of the plastic cover near the door and footwell. From there, you should be able to work your way toward the 12v connectors. Shove any excess length under the glove box area and zip tie it. Don't forget to reinstall the pillar cover above.

The plastic panels are quite flexible, so they are very easy to work with.
