I have a '13 PreRunner that I installed a Bull Bar on and would like to mount an LED light bar on it. The problem I'm running into is that when I search for light bars all I can find is the size of the bar itself, and not where the brackets need to be. My bull bar has pre-drilled holes for off-road lights and I was looking to mount it using those if possible.
[IMG]Here's what I know, and maybe you have a better idea of what will work.

The gap that the bar will fit into is about 27" from edge to edge(it tapers in towards the top).
The holes are 15" apart from center to center.
The holes are about 6 3/4" from the inside edge of the bull bar.

I'm thinking that somewhere around a 25" light bar would allow a little breathing room on either side, but that still brings up the same issue of where the mounting brackets are positioned

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

i just tried to install a pair of JDM ASTAR AX-2835 switchback LED's to replace my filament DRL's. It is supposed to run white while driving, then flash amber-off-amber for turn signals or hazzards. Instead of doing this they run amber all the time and hyperflash for turnsignals.

Absolutely! I got the light bar and wiring kit from Amazon for just over $100, and installed in just over an hour.

I was driving down to Tucson last weekend and saw a Gen 1 Taco that had 2 LED spotlights mounted to the underside of the rear bumper and it gave me an idea. There are 4 bolts on the underside of my gen 2's bumper; 2 in each corner. I think I'll mount 1 or 2(if there's room) spotlights there and wire them into the reverse lights. BUT, I would also want them to be on a bypass switch so that I can also manually turn them on without the truck having to be in reverse exclusively.

    ...Ideas???

I've shared this in numerous threads about backup lights. Just do a quick search, lots of people have done it the way you're talking about, including myself.

I can't believe this thread hasn't caught any hell yet(bullbar plus lightbar combo)

Some of the light bars I've seen had a rail type mounting system so the mounting points can be adjusted anywhere along the path of the light bar.

I tapped into the reverse lights as mentioned and ran 2 leads down to the receiver hitch. When the bump step with the lights is in the receiver it just plugs in. I swapped the plugs (male-female) so it can be plugged in quickly without worrying about which is hot/ground.

I've also needed to wire in a separate fuse board for my accessories, so I've attached pix of that as well...IMG_20170304_155842.jpg IMG_20170304_155914.jpg IMG_20170304_153156.jpg IMG_20170304_153146.jpg

Did you use the pre drilled holes in your bull bar? If so do you recall the size? I am wanting to order this same set up however I don’t know what size holes are predrilled in my bull bar (I currently have a layer of rhino lining over my Westin bull bar for the matte black look). If you did use the pre drilled holes did you use the bolts that came with the light bar or did you have to buy thicker bolts to fit the predrilled holes?

I apologize for the delayed response. The holes were pre-drilled in the bull bar, and i just used the mounting hardware that came with the light bar. I was specifically looking for a bumper-mount light bar because of the pre-drilled holes.

    hope this helps!!

No problem. I got it all set now. I felt stupid when I finally looked under the bull bar and saw the big holes that allow you to get the nut on from the bottom. I didn’t know those were there. It took some old school engineering but I got it done. Thanks for the reply though

What size bar did you end up going with? My 16yo wants one of these lights and has the same bar on the front. (13 Tacoma prerunner) his truck is dark green. Do these led’s change colors?
