I just bought and will have installed (myself) a Pioneer DEH-P7000BT, I installed in the doors (front & rear DC) Pioneer Premier TS-D602P 6.5" 2 Way Speakers, with the stock HU they sound a bit better, so we shall see with the new HU...

pioneer head unit, Bazooka Subwoofer, Dual 650 Amp

I had an alpine in my 98 civic and absolutely loved it, but i just ordered a alpine for my 03 reg cab and from reviews it is great. Good sound, easy Ipod connection and use and has preamp outlet for my sub.
i voted alpine but pioneer is a close second
