CAFE also has to do with the whole fleet. The calculation is more complex than a single vehicle getting a certain mileage.

BTW this is also why having more hybrids or diesel engine versions could become more important in the future since each one will count as another model to factor into a companies average.

Interesting, It must be real difficult for auto manufacturers to get anything done these days. I think we all forget how much money is spent on R&D just to make a vehicle street legal and emissions compliant...let alone competitive!

its ok, they only sold 300 of them worldwide and canceled the car due to not reaching the sales quota of 4000 cars per year, it was sold for 3 years

Is it me, or does it seem like every car that style uses exactly the same body?

I keep forgetting about the CAFE requirements, that is why everyone is going to smaller engines, still sucks......... well hopefully they gear it right....

I bet that 270 hp would feel like a rocket ship compared to my 159. I'm sure it will be fine with that new transmission too.

Anyone that thinks Toyota fucked up to the point you'll not buy a new one again because of the Gen3 should be venting to Toyota by calling, writing, and/or emailing Toyota:

Incessantly posting inside a forum that doesn't (& won't) apply to you wastes your time while simultaneously degrades the experience of those that are interested in a Gen3. Complain directly to the only people that can change things to your liking, Toyota.

Because they want to make money on this truck and sell Tundras. And it would break too many hearts finding out the 2.7L outsells the V8.

I think it's hilarious that guys are being total crybabies about 270hp when their current engine makes 236 and they think it's the second coming of Christ himself. At least be consistent guys...

I am still in a Gen 1 with 190 hp! The new 3.5 is larger than my engine and has 80 more HP. So, either way it'll be an upgrade for me. And do you all really think the HP is 10% less than the Colorado because it is tuned for more torque?? How does that work?

    Intake, exhaust, lift. Typical stuff.
No such thing as an "upgrade" for a 1st gen :D

Shoot, when I went from a 22RE to the 3.4, it felt like a rocketship....the new engine will feel like hitting warp drive while diving into a wormhole...

I read that Toyota moved the fuel gauge and tachometer to the E-Tune display. I think that's pretty hawt but there is a small downside that unless you Bluetooth connect your phone to the E-Tune and have cell coverage it won't tell you how full the tank is or your RPMs.
