    Hello tocoma world.

I was wondering if any New Jersey tocoma people out there could guide me towards a good 4x4 shop. I have a 2009 grey sr5 quad cab. I love the truck, but unfortinitly from spending all my time on this site I caught a BUG! I would like to add a lift to my truck for better ride and bigger tires. Truck is used 90% road 10 % offroad. The shop I went to quoted me 650 plus for a rough country 1 1/2 to 2 inch lift. The lift was only 250 labor was at least 300. I won't do the job myself due to not confident in full process and I don't have to time. So my question is this,

Any tocoma owners who have a lift weather big or small. Where did you get your lift done and is the price I was quoted insane? I know I could order full kits offline for that price. Note the lift that they suggested was spacers up front and shocks in rear. Also I am in south jersey so tri state area ok if you got suggestions.

Do you have any friends, family, or co-workers whom are 'mechanical' who can help you?? Do you have a trusted local mechanic? You don't necessarily need a specialized offroad shop to install this stuff. There are lots of write-ups available. Although you're not comfortable with it...if you find someone who's mechanically knowledgeable.... It'll be a GREAT experience for you to learn the process.

Have you shopped around? Make some phone calls to different shops near you....

Many many years ago... (thru TTORA), we used to have 'Wrenching Parties'. Groups of forum members would get together and hep install lifts & such. It was great fun and you learn a lot!

Keep in mind that businesses need to make money. Shop around to see what the prices are in your area. 650 might sound insane until you realize that half of that is parts and the job will take a fair bit of time to accomplish. Hell, 650 is less than half of the parts bill for most mid travel suspension lifts.
