The cinch straps on my Tepui started to tear, so I thought I'd swap them out. I don't have a sewing machine to restitch the Velcro but this looks like it will work pretty well. Just a quick 5 minute DIY if anyone is interested.

 

great idea, even with just 1 sleeping bag in mine its a pain to close, the velcro just wont hold. whats the length on that middle piece?

 

Same!! That and the straps that go on top of the travel cover. I wish those were longer

 

3". No bedding and no fabric tucked in, and it holds just right when the tent is empty. I extend it out a bit at the beginning of the trip to account for how much bedding we load in there.

 

I took those top straps off too. Cover fits plenty snug without them.

 

i have to pull them so tight to stay on its crazy.. They would be perfect if they were a few inches longer

 

Lol, you guys bring the decorative pillows and matching down comforter and stuff with you?? Can't say I've ever had this problem, but then again I just leave two bags and pillows in there. Good idea btw on the straps, will definitely keep that in mind if mine ever fail.

 

I can't even keep 2 pillows in mine.. Tried it once and the cover barely fit, and the 2 top straps wouldn't hold.

 

So weird cuz I can keep 4 pillows and 2 sleeping bags in mine and shut it pretty easily haha. Maybe it's the way I fold everything down and stuff.

 

How much tucking in of the fabric do you guys do, because early on I thought the same thing. But after a few uses I figured out I needed to tuck the fabric in further and that helped a lot

 

I have to do a little bit of tucking but not too badly to where I'm annoyed with it. Beats setting up and breaking down a ground tent by far. The only time it sucks is when I camp in the cold and my hands are frozen trying to tuck the fabric inside the cover, haha then it's not too fun.

 

I always close it then open it up like a foot or two and really tuck the fabric back in toward the center.
If you don't tuck it in far enough all the tent fabric will be on the edges creating that difficult to close situation

 

Same here! Makes it much easier.

 

How many straps do you guys have on the inside to help tuck as you fold?

 

I think that by the time you get everything together you'll be over the price of one like this

That's how I do it. Takes a second and makes life way easier.
