Honestly, with a truck that dark, I feel like the best color for the bumpers and sliders would probably be black, or a gray of the same or darker shade. On the other hand, if the truck was desert tan and the bumpers were that color, it would work pretty good.

..you are talking about this color right?

With that dark grey it would probably look funny having tan sliders and bumpers. Personally i would do the truck in tan and the bumpers and sliders in black

I was think about going tan and then have black bumpers, but I was afraid the tan would look to light, idk. I just though maybe the tan bumpers would just be something different, but could look kinda goofy too.

Got the cab patched back up, again using pieces of the old bed.

Then painted in with chassis saver.

Floor was pretty rusty on the drivers side.

    So we painted it too.

As well as the gas tank skid and the top of the gas tank.

    Got in back in.

Got a new manual pbv, the other was rusted to pieces

My dad did some body work, came out really good.

There was a small dent here as well so he filled it in.

Filled in dents on the hood and fender as well

Painted inside of fenders with chassis saver.

Sway bar off as well as old shocks, icons in.

I know they have a bunch of preload. Thats how they were when I got them and wanted to see where it set. The cv angles are really bad, so hopefully it either comes down quite a bit with the bumper and when the cab and bed is on. I cant really lower the front tell the back comes down other wise i will have a ton of rake.

This is what I had to do to get the ball joint bolted back together.

Then it was time to get the cab back on...

Got the steering bolted back up and everything connected in the engine bay, all we need is a new radiator.

Then we started working on the bed getting it ready to paint the underside, it was a little rusty but nothing to major, we did find a hole or too though.

Should be painted by the end of today then its time to sand everything and prime it to get ready for paint.

Got the underside of the bed painted last night.

Got in on a group buy for some sound deadener so we will paint the floor with chassis saver, then lay that down then we found a place were you can get a vinyl floor for the truck. So we will have that instead of a carpet then but regular floor mats on top.

    Frame rust.
I've just picked up a 98 with as much frame rust, without the damage to it or the body. This build has given me a lot of hope that mine can be saved as well. Thanks for sharing!

I suggest you get this stuff called chassis saver, its what I've been using. Monstaliner sells it. You can paint it directly on rust, the loose stuff has to be knocked off first though.

We actually started the engine last night it used to have a wine from the idler pullety by the a/c pulley. We replaced it and now everything sounds great!

Got everything sanded and ready for paint. The truck bed floor had quite a bit of rust ( where all the black paint is)

SS brake lines from front range offroad.

    Rear installed.

Put new radiator in as well.

Was prototyping an idea to mount switches

And for the rear shock mounts. Not sure if this will exactly work. Just going to have to see when i get the shocks in.

Ordered some bilstein 5150 last night 14 inch travel, they should work. And got a flowmaster 40 off a member on here. Hopefully the next set off pics will be of it painted!

Got all the sound deadening material in. This stuff is pretty thick, and its heavy! Cant wait to see what kind of difference it makes. My 96 on the highway is loud inside the cab.

    Its all painted! :bananadance:

Bed is in black. All of this we sprayed on, none was rolled on

Got everything else tapped and then primed

And the pyroclastic monstaliner is going on!

    3 coats and its done!

Was debating for a while if i wanted to spray it or roll it. I was afraid spraying it, it would come out too ruff. But spraying it was going to be ALOT faster so we did it that way. It came out good and pretty smooth, but for some reason the gun was throwing chunks in the paint and so there is small bumps and speckles everywhere. From a distance you can't tell but up close it doesn't look all that great. But for the first time doing it, its not bad, I'm happy with it.

Here is a close up of the tailgate.

And another thing we saw was this white line, its actually the primer. So we are just going to tape it off again and roll some black there when we are painting the bumpers.

Couldn't get the bilstein 5150s so I just ordered 5165's in 13" travel. Also got a H1 retrofit kit from the retrofit source. went with the gatling gun shroud and putting amber halos on the front face. Ordered red LEDs from superbrightled.com for the gauge cluster, shifter, and climate control panel. Also ordered these switches so I can make my mount by the mirror.[IMG]

    Putting everything back together...

Seeing how the exhuast will sound, this gorilla tape is good stuff, lol.

Got the flowmast 40 welded in and cut up the old tail pipe and dumped it over the axle.
We got the spare back under it as well.

Then we set the bed on it.

The fender to hub measurements on the passenger side are 26" front and back. Which is 4" higher then my single cab. Hopefully it goes down, the shackle angles arn't bad but the cv's are very bad. But i cant crank the icons down tell the back end settles. The plate bumpers should help.

Got the tailights in, i think it looks good.

Also got the vinyl floor in, it has to set outside for 2 days so it can form into the shape its suppose to be in.

Got my leds in from superbrightleds.com today as well. May have time to put them in.

Truck looks great! Cant wait to see it with plate bumpers. Are you planning on painting the wheels or going aftermarket?
