I've seen quite a few threads asking for help diagnosing problems based on "strange sounds"....i.e. - Chirping sound, clunk-clunk, pop, ka-chunk etc. Very rarely does anyone provide a sound clip or video of the problem, which makes is EXTREMELY difficult to assist or even begin trying to diagnose.

I recently had a small Metal-on-rubber squeak develop. In less than 2 days, it turned into a constant squeal anytime the gas pedal was pushed. I immediately thought Carrier Bearing, but to be sure, I dropped the driveline and drove in Front Wheel drive. The squeak was gone, and the Carrier Bearing was toast (59k on my truck). It was no longer centered and the rubber was starting to deteriorate on the inside.

I recorded a quick video of what it sounded like. Again, it went from an intermittent "squeak" to this sound in less than 2 days.

Either way, I wanted to post the video/sound clip so you guys can actually hear what a bad Carrier Bearing sounds like.
