Hey guys! I'm new to the site and am not even sure how to use it yet but I keep seeing pictures of people who have blacked out emblems. I'm Curious as to how they do it. I'm assuming plast dip and it might be a dumb question, but how exactly do you take them off and get them back on? I have a 2009 Barcelona Red Tacoma and am looking to start doing some mods to it. I'll post a picture of mine too. It's just stock right now! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Youtube is your friend my man. Lots of dipping pros on there. But the short of it. Clean the emblem. Use blue painters tape to mask the emblem, leaving a 1 inch border. Do 3-5 light coats. Peel away excess. Boom you are done. And be careful of pantie projectiles, blacked out emblems tend to get the ladies all hot and bothered.

I just painted mine with some higher quality rattle can paint. It does tend to need touch up sometimes, as the winter is hard on it but this may not be a problem where you live.

5-10 minutes obviously worked for that guy but I tend to follow directions from manufacturers. I think you're probably fine either way.

OMG, wish I saw this thread yesterday. I just removed all my decals and it looks like crap (still some residue glue). Plus, one of the TACOMA decals broke. Oh well, now I'm going with gloss black "Toy TACO" on the rear. Plus, I took my 4x4 splash guards off, so will buy a "4x4" decal for the rear too.

How does the plasti-dip hold up in a car wash?

I had the badges painted for 3 years on my old truck. I rarely used the auto matic car wash, but washed at least once a week with a brush either in my driveway or the carwash place.
They still looked good when sold.

I use the ride through car wash so I hope it holds up. I'm going to try the black plasti-dip with the glossifier. When it warms up.
