I have a 2009 tacoma sport with trailer pkg. I am looking to install a electric brake controller for my trailer. Is this truck wired from the factory for plug and play installation? Im getting different answers from who I happen to talk to at the dealer:(

Thanks BRT! So if I find the plug under the dash, is it true that all I need is the controller and the plug harness that came in the glovebox to complete the install?

    That should do it.
Not sure what the factory supplied pigtail (in the glovebox) is; It may just be a generic connector, with the appropriate wires hanging free that will need to be spliced to the controller.
Usually you can find a plug/ wiring kit made for the brake controller that is a true plug and play, but you'll pay a few more bucks for the convenience.

Make sure to take time to read the instructions and get the controller set up properly. Practice with different settings in a safe place, i.e. large empty parking lot. Don't want to lock the brakes on the trailer every time you slow down!!! Learn how to apply the brakes on the trailer only. useful if you start to fishtail. Re-adjust EVERY time you hook up the trailer, and periodically re-check the adjustment on a long trip..

Thanks BRD you made my day:) I have a Draw -Tite Activator II controller that I bought 6-8 months ago . When I asked the dealer to install the controller since the truck was new they had to get back to me. When they did get back, they said I was better off getting it installed at a trailer shop because they have to make a wiring harness and at shop rates the job would cost $800.00 to $900.00:eek: Thank goodness for the internet:)
