What color grille is this? *SOLVED*

I purchased a MGM Grille off Craigslist several months ago. I decided to put it on today & to my surprise it doesn't match! I feel like an idiot not noticing this but inside the house it didn't seem like the wrong color. Seems to have a goldish tone to it in the sun. Is it Pyrite Mica?

it might depend what it came off of. It could be what Toyota calls "argent." It's what comes standard on all base 5 lugs or Prerunners. If you see a Prerunner with black plastic fender flares, regardless of the color of the truck, the grill will be argent. I've got a black Prerunner AC and that's what's on mine. Not black and not MGM.

don't worry Its the right color. My 2015 looked exactly the same and two of my neighbors magnetic grey grills look like this. Im not sure the reasoning for not perfectly matching the color but thats how it came from the factory. I even called toyota about this.

I noticed the gold tint the next day after I purchased it. Wish I still had the pictures to show you.

When the sun isn't shining on the grill there isn't much difference. My local dealership has a few Pyrite Mica RAV 4's on the lot. I am gonna swing by there & compare. I don't wanna sell this to someone else if the color is just screwed up. Thanks for the help!

take a look at a magnetic grey when your there too. look at it in the sun the grill shroud has a gold tint.

When you bought the grille did it come in the OEM packaging? It should say the paint code on the label.

SOLVED! It is is the gray grille from a base model Tacoma. I never knew they were different colors until now. (my truck is on left with incorrect grill installed. Truck on right is base model Tacoma with MGM paint & unpainted bumpers. The grill doesn't match on it either.)

Toyota never could give me a straight answer on why they painted it like that. Wonder if MG is the only color its like this on.

 

No, it's that color on all base trucks.
