i tried a search and no one seems to have had the same problem. Most people encounter this in the winter but right now with the heat index it's 90. My truck currently idles at 500-600 rpm after it warms up. It's feels normal driving but when I come to a stop and push the clutch in the rpms drop and it feels like it's going to stall, even if I shit to neutral. Anyone want to chime in.

I have 2004 and it idles a little low as well at idle if I sit there for a minute. Mine is down around 600 or 650. I've combed the internet and this site and as near as I can tell?? That's the way the vast majority of these engines are once they get some miles on them. I quit even worrying about it. 500rpm does sound too low though. I'd bet cleaning the MAF sensor as already suggested and maybe running some high quality fuel system cleaner (BG44, Techron, Seafoam) through it every 3 to 5000 miles will probably fix the problem as well as running it harder and revving it a few times a month. These engines have a 5000rpm redline on them. I personally don't think it's good for them to be driving around at 2000 rpm all the time. JMHO. High quality gas helps as well.

That's what I do with mine and it improved the idle not by leaps and bounds but it does run and idle better all the way around although it does do the 4cylinder vibration thing at idle which is something I have to get used to after driving a '73 Caddy Coupe DeVille as my only ride for 18 years.

I didn't update this thread but I had a loose hose clamp on the intake. Tightened that and it improved the idle for a little while and then went back down. Will clean MAF next

Try turning lights, ac, on before you start truck .computer will kick up idle . The same way when you change battery. Dealership gave my truck back to me like that and told me I had to drive 500 miles so computer will Learn rpm. My truck didn't have 5 miles on it when I bought it

Clean throttle body and definitely clean the IAC. It's dirty which is causing poor idle.

Never heard of this but worth a shot. My battery should be at 600 cranking amps and its a 520 so That might be the culprit? Not sure but when I buy a new battery I might give this a try.

You don't need a new battery to try it .just turn everything on before crank it and let it idle for a minute after u start it

You guys have effed up IAC's which need cleaning. The symptoms are classic to what my old Mitsubishi 3000GT had. I cleaned the IAC thoroughly and the problems went away.

So assume one doesn't know where this IAC valve is on a 2TR or what it even looks like. What is it?
