yes it is normal. Most Taco's have a taco lean that is corrected by adjusting the driver's side higher than the passenger side. there appears to be a fairly significant difference in yours. Mine is about 1.75" thread showing on passenger side and a full 2" (threads between the adjustment collar and the top hat). Then again all trucks are different. Do you have the same distance between the fender and center hub?

Icon MT suspension, Pelfreybuilt front bumper, Relentless skids, Avid sliders, Avid custom rack. Pelfreybilt HC Rear bumper.
I have had the ICON extended travel suspension (non remote Resi in front), with standard 650# springs. I feel the front bottoms out too easily. I have a heavy Pelfreybily front steel bumper, all three steel skids undrneath and Avid welded on sliders. A couple people have suggested I need to go to 700# springs for the extra weight. Either that or rebuild the coilovers to the adjustable CDC configuration and set them to 6 or so. Or do both. Any opinions from you guys? Only have 15,000 miles on the suspension and 20,000 on the truck but rear springs (with Icon AAL) is sagging too. Overall the front going throught the travel too quickly seems to be the first problem to attack.

no seatbelt chime, stubby antenna, 5100's front and back with AAL, offset rims with Dura-Trac rubber, weathertec mats, Image Dynamic sub with 5 channel Amp and Kenwood Deck with steering wheel control, PIA bulbs, K&N air filter, ARB Delux front bumper
I went with the 700# since I have the ARB deluxe bumper and winch (9000lb warn). I like the setup up front but agree the Icon AAL bottoms out too easily. Not sure I would want any rougher ride though. I have put roughly the same miles on and have had decent loads in the truck and pulled my travel trailer about 5000 miles. One bonus I might add is that I lost the 35MPH and 80MPH shimmy that I had when I had a bigger lift in the back.

Adding the CDCs will not provide any more lift, they simply control rate of change for the coilover/shock that it is controlling. For example, I set it all the way down to S or (1) for crawling, and up to 8 for the highway. I was on 7 for the highway but tire squeal around corners was irritating, and setting up to 8 eliminated that. I have the 700# springs, and they do fine with ARB/Warn combo and armor.

Thanks guys, this was the info / confirmation I was seeking. I want to get the front suspension under control then I will tackle the back. May go to Alcon leafs in the back, but first is the front end.

I am in the process of installing a stage 3 and I screwed up the uniball (operator error). I called Icon and they next day aired the part and sent one for a Chevy HD. I called them up and they Next day aired a replacement no charge. It was their error; but, they were quick to fix the issue and I will be receiving the part tomorrow. I started on the rear end installing the AAL. If I remove the overload spring will give me no lift, not to mention that in the picture in the provided instructions there are six leafs and mine will have five after following their instructions removing the overload. I will be calling them tomorrow. This is to be expected hurdles installing yourself. I just wish that there was a solid video like the one from Total Chaos for the rear end. I followed it on my Ipad as I installed the front and it was perfect. The rear is easy but a video give the confidence I am doing it right.
I am happy with their support so far and I am confident that after reading a few threads that I will reinstall the over load spring and look at a complete leaf spring set from an other vendor in the future.

All, I am probably planning to possibly migrate to a new suspension on my truck in the coming weeks. I currently have the OME 3" kit, and as much as I loved this kit I think its time for a change.. I want to go with a C/O setup and Toytec mentioned given I have the 3" lift with rear AALs etc; the Icon Stage 1 would be a good kit to go with. I can retain my rear spring setup and just basically swap out the shocks and struts. (I already have LR UCAs, so there will be room for alignment.)

After some searching both here and google/youtube, I haven't found a lot of feedback on the Stage 1 Kit, (stage 2 and above seem to be the more popular hits on the net.) Can someone give me their exp. with the stage 1 kit? How does it ride in general highway /in town and on the occasional washboard road, etc.

Also, I was considering retaining the current Toytec 1/4" spacer on the top to not have to go to the 3-3.5" limit (C/O adjustment) on the Icons, given some of the discussion on not pushing the C/O adjustment limits. Are there any concerns with that plan? Let me know your thoughts.

I just recently installed a Icon stage 3 lift on my 2012 Tacoma. I am as happy as a fag in a dick tree, it rides rock steady and smooth as silk. I did all the work my self and it was easy. I am not looking for looks, I am more about the performance. I got a 2 to 1.5 inch lift out of the factory settings. I had OME kits on my hilux in Afghanistan and Africa, they work and take a beating. They do not have the smoothness that a higher end shock will give you. lets face it, you want to look cool and have your truck a little higher than the guy across the street. I get it i am the same way with other stuff. If you want a superior ride and maintain good off-road performance I highly recommend Icon. I am also running 265/ 75/16 BFG TKO2's and I have no rubbing and no loss in MPG. when the aftermarket company's design and test their products they recommend the settings you should keep them at.
my recommendation is: get the long travel shocks for the front end and for the rear if you have the Dakar leaf springs you need the long travel rear shock if not get rid of the block lift that will screw up your suspension and possibly brake a stock leaf spring.
What do I know, call Icon and talk to them and then make a decision talk about what you want to do and be honest. tell them the parts and configuration you are thinking about doing. Usually the guys that answer the phones are not the engineers that tested and designed the product, as to talk to an engineer. They are a great company and stand behind their work, FACT.

P.S. never get a company's entry level product. e.g. stage one Icon coil overs.

I am on my second Icon Stage 1 installation, this time around with 14" 700 lb coils and Dakar leafs. I was happy with the first go, that one with the regular coils and the AAL they offer. Love the ride both on and off road. As for whether to use your spacer on the driver side - safer approach is to just crank the adjustment on the coilover to level the truck. They come with linear rate springs so a bit more preload isn't going to make a difference in the ride. To give you an idea, this picture shows the side to side difference I was running with the first set.

    EDDO,

Thanks for the info! I purchased the setup yesterday shortly after my initial reply to this thread on the Icon stage one. After some discussion with Toytec and then ICON both agree that it is best to just adjust the C/Os as you mention to get the desired ride height. I picked the parts up yesterday afternoon from Toytec as well.

Unrelated to that, you mention you are on your "*second stage 1 ICON stage 1 installation".. was there an issue with the first? if so what was it? or is it just because you needed more lift for some reason? the reason I ask, is I have the UCWM (winch) setup on my truck and I would be really annoyed if after purchasing this setup I don't get the desired full 3" of lift in the front.

Let me know your thoughts on the coils etc.

    Thanks

My use of the truck changed over time and required use of heavier springs to help with the bottoming out events I was experiencing off road at higher speeds. At that point, I had 32,000 miles on the Icons so it was getting close to rebuild time anyway. Truck is also my daily. In order to avoid any downtime, I just ordered all new then sold the used stuff for around half what I paid originally. I am not as laser focussed on lift height as you, so I really can't comment on your 3" of lift requirement. You may be a candidate for 700# springs, but be aware that the ride will necessarily be stiffer. If you go 700, lose the sway bar.

The truck turned out great! Thanks to @Speed Freek for helping with the install. Added some 17x8 ATX Mojaves and 275/70/17 BFG KBro2s. I couldn't be happier. Just ordered my @Pelfreybilt bumper and @Baja Designs lights! If you guys have any questions about install, rubbing, trimming, ride, etc, hit me up.

I achieved just under 3" of lift with the dakars and icon C/O with 700# springs dialed in with 1" of thread showing. It rides waaaaaaay better than stock but I need some more weight in the back because those new Leafs are stiff!

Not sure whether the springs really mellow over time or if I just got used to them. Either way, nice setup. Next step. :D
