A few months ago, I replaced the AC compressor and components, with the help of a mechanic buddy. I replaced it with the stock compressor from an Ebay business that was recommended by several members here.

I did everything I was supposed to per directions and other memebers. I had the refrigerant refilled by a local Firestone dealer. It tests fine with no leaks. Unfortunately, after they refilled it, the compressor didn't turn on. The problem seems to be electrical. Firestone said they could diagnose the problem with a for $110/hr. I told them I'd try to figure it out on my own first.

The light on the AC button on the dash, lights up like normal. It was blinking when the compressor first died. I replaced the magnetic clutch relay, hoping maybe that died and still nothing. All the fuses for the system are in tact still.

Anyone have some ideas to diagnose the problem? Weather has taken a pretty hot turn this week, so I'm getting a bit more desperate to fix it.

    Thanks,
    -Ted

First, check to see if voltage is getting to the clutch. With a/c on you'll have to test the two wires to be certain 12v is getting there and have to rig it to test w/o your hands near the running engine. If so, it's an aw-shit b/c the clutch may be bad but be certain the clutch connector is all the way on, not reversed, and no broken wires.

Next, check the fuses; anything marked or possibly related to the ac. Possible that a fuse blew if your clutch failed on old unit. A schematic would help if anyone can get one. Could have something shorted out a wire while it was apart? Get a meter and test each related fuse or replace with known good.
Assume the inside fan runs ok.

CHeck connectors on low side switch and high side switch installed in the aluminum lines, on tight and and secure.
