    I can't vouch for the flat metal skin but i can tell you the ribbed model (Mobtown) def added serious strength to the tail gate......

    I agree. You really need a cap. KB Voodoo's product is all you need. Flat metal across the face isn't gonna give much strength at all

    it does add some however. Thats why the relentless fab tailgate skin works so well... its like you combined the mobtown skin and kbvoodo cap all in one.

    I'm thinking about adding a cap, too, but I need to wait a little while. My wife has noticed all the new stuff on the new truck and is beginning to get suspicious...

    I have an 07..... and I can definitely see how they are weak - cuz they are - or at least the 07's are.

    I haven't had any problems with mine...however....I take my tailgate off anytime I think it'll be exposed to heavy weight.

    Say for instance - example - any situation where 100% of a heavy load is concentrated on one small area of the tailgate - I'd remove the tailgate.
    If the load was spread out across the entire thing (which rarely happens in my case)...its probably OK.
