Hello everyone. My house does not have a garage and I would like something park my truck under to keep it out of the sun in the summer, and to keep it from getting burried in snow in the winter. I have a spot along the side of my house that could fit a carport big enough to completely cover my truck. What kind do you all have? How does it stand up to wind, and is it strong enough to hold snow without caving in? Any input would be great. Thanks.

My 07 Taco sits in the sun year round. Poor little thing! The only protection is a windshield screen. We don't get snow but it gets pretty hot in the summer. Paint is holding up. I'll be interested to see what is available too.

If you own the house, I would build your own with 4x4 posts and a sloped roof. You can decide between steel or composite roofing depending on what works best for your budget and style.

I have a 20 x 22 (12ga) frame carport, my truck does not like sitting out in the bad weather.

You might want to consider building something than buying. Any carport I have ever seen is really flimsy and looks like hell after a few years. I would guess you could build one cheaper than buying if you did the labor yourself. Just some 6x6 posts cemented in the ground with a slanted roof would be alot sturdier than some of the carports out there. As for the roofing, I used this for my shed....

I'm no carpenter but it is easy to use and it looks great. Just use the correct nails.

Thanks a lot for the suggestions guys. I will look a little more into what I would need to build one. No doubt I could build one for cheaper. The some what nice aluminum I found are well over a $1000. Definately not trying to spend that much on something that will probably only last a couple years.
