Follow along.. :p it wasn't the "clunk" we all hear... it was a rapid chatter that developed over time, and definitely NOT normal.

The forum is a good place to share and learn, not toss around generic antidotes like "its not a sports car". LOL

My 98 Civic DX had a slicker transmission and it wasn't a sports car either.

Long and short, the sound is gone. Good luck to anyone else with the same "non-sports car" transmission.

I had a ram with a 5speed and it was smooth as glass. No clunks or chatters.
Also, just because it's normal and talked about a lot on here doesn't mean it's not a problem. Saggy leaf springs ring a bell?

i have the same issue first i though it was the clutch... got that replace under warranty at 20K issue came back almost right away... now I am at 48k and i am having the same noise you are mentioning... going to the dealer this week to see what they can do... i read lots on similar issue and I am not sure if its the transmission or the drive shaft or the clutch kit... but i have a jerking clutch only went I shift in first gear... but there is lots of noise went going over stuff in neutral also... I've just been frustrated for the last 3 year with the dealership every time I bring it in they say its normal... as much as I love my Tacoma I am looking to get rid of it as its just been a pain in my ass for too long.
