Hello all! My name is Dan and I just signed up tonight because I'm 99.989% sure my wife and I are going to get rid of our problem child 1988 Suburban in favor of a 2000-2003 Double Cab Tacoma and I wanted to check the boards and see what words of wisdom folks had to say. The Mrs. and I have been going back and forth on whether to get a Taco or a Tundra since we have 2 girls, (6 and 2 years old), and I think I've got her convinced we just don't need a full size truck anymore. We're not giants, (I'm 5'10" and she's 5' 5") and a double cab will be plenty big for hauling family and gear since I have a pickup box trailer if I need to haul anything really crazy.

Anywho, I'm sure I'll be bugging a lot of you guys out there as we're still in the looking stage and I want to know as much as I can before I pull the trigger, but don't be surprised if one day this summer I come on and show y'all pics of a shiny new (to me anyway) Tacoma.

    Cheers!

    Dan

    Welcome to TW Dan

I think you'll enjoy having a Tacoma. Instead of a 2000-2003, you might consider a 2005 or newer Tacoma since they are a little larger and are about the same size as the older Tundras. Get what suits your needs though.

Thanks shadow! I'd love a newer taco but they're running about 3x's as much as the older ones around here. The wife and I are trying to buy a house soon and the quicker I pay off a vehicle, the better it is for us...mainly me...lol.

Welcome! I drive a 2014 DCLB and it's perfect for my family of four (kids 7 & 8). However, if I was looking at pre-2005, I'd probably be looking at a tundra for the extra size. The gen1 tacos would be too small for my family
