I am looking for suggestions on a tool box that will fit my 2015 Tacoma. The box will be used to store a 48" hilift jack, tire chains and other recovery gear along with long guns during hunting trips. I looked at pictures online of the tool box from Toyota but I can't tell much from them. Dealer wanted 600 bucks plus tax. How well built is the box? Do they mount to the bed rail? Would like to see some better pictures of the box before buying. Any other suggestions would be muck appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I bought the Toyota box. It does mount to the bed rail at the front and both sides, although I had to buy a longer bolt for the front. I think I also had to drill out the hole for the tray stop, as the supplied bolt was larger in diameter. It seems to be well-built.

I found a Toyota brand on craigslist for $80. Very well built! You lose a couple inches of view lot of the rear window cause it sits high above the rails, but it's definitely a good box. You can even stand on the lid without it caving in.

I bolted a rigid orange job box in the back of mine. Works great for all that ive use it for. Even a bear locker in the sequoia forest.
If you want a pic let me know.
I also have a ladder rack. Thats why i choose that box. Tool box upper mounting type didn'twork.

I love my Toyota tool box,
Wait and hunt Craigslist for a used one though.

They are stout as can be and I can't say enough good things about mine.
Easily removed when you want it out. No permanent holes in anything to lock it in place. One quick glance at the locks and you know it's secured or not. You can unlock the drivers side only and leave the other side locked if needed.

I heard rumors they may be manufactured by Weatherguard if that helps.

The Toyota box works really well for me, too. Sits high enough off the floor of the bed that my extra spare fits underneath, too.

If I was still looking, I'd be tempted by this one, deals are out there.
